This is the reasoning behind the vertical setup: you can align the 4 lists next to each other and compare which list(s) each topic “shows up” in. If I arranged them as “rows”, then you couldn’t line them up the same way. Note that I have indicated what each of the 4 columns are in the title bar of the browser window. Obviously, “love” is very complex — so this may very well need some more attention before the results are “optimal” (I mainy tried to create meaningful subsets that were about the same size). Also: people will probably want to do right-clicks on the links and open them in separate tabs/windows.

Another thing about the “love” sets is that I have tried to avoid overlapping (though it is not entirely ruled out — for example: http://help.com/post/102059-my-story-… shows up in both column #2 and column #3 [and that is an indication that it is both about females and about family stuff]). Note, also that the “strange” categories again have to do with the fact that it is not possible to search for the following three-letter words: “boy”, “man” and/or “men”.

Reply from Times' gone mad /post/102188-help-me-help-you-help-each-other-to#reply-3157090 ACK!

Have you considered trying to break it into 3 frames that go across horizontally instead of vertically. Then at least you’d have an idea of the page.

Reply from xbox /post/102188-help-me-help-you-help-each-other-to#reply-3156995 Ah, I figured it out: I set the “tag” links on http://help-find.org/ to go to the “history” pages — which are different than the “tag” pages. The history pages allow filtering (which I have used to default to verified users only). I think I’m not going to worry about recent/current tags — what do you think?

Reply from xbox /post/102188-help-me-help-you-help-each-other-to#reply-3156982 Hmm: seems to me like tags don’t get updated immediately — or does anyone have another explanation why (as of this moment) this post doesn’t show up when clicking on the “love” tag?

Reply from xbox /post/102188-help-me-help-you-help-each-other-to#reply-3156861 Tags can be used for many things — to communicate expertise, or also to communicate interests, wants, needs,… — many things.

What I’m trying to do here is to display “clusters” — for example: you could see that the post http://help.com/post/100482-i-am-extr… shows up both for +job* +life and +job* +school.

I have noticed something that poses a small difficulty with the term “job” — it’s only three letters long, and the software does not permit searches on less than 4 characters. Therefore, it is impossible to search for “job” (the results only show strings beginning with “job” — such as “jobs” or “jobless”).

The way tagging is implemented here, it appears that it is not possible to combine tags with searches — it’s either use taggin or use search, but both together doesn’t seem to work. Therefore, it doesn’t seem to be possible to return only posts (and no replies) with the tag “job”. I have, however, now also included a link to posts by verified users with the tag “job”.

I find the window with frames actually gives a quite good overview of the topic — it’s just too bad that it excludes “job” simply because it’s only three letters long). I will test out another case naxt maybe I should move on to “work”? or “love”? Any suggestions?
