Reply from Silverwings /post/125676-some-question-about-australia-from#reply-3414078 Neat…. how exciting.. to go to a new country at the ripe old age of 19… woowo.. sounds like you learned to communicate pretty quickly… to land a wife in 4 years…Have you ever been home to Canada?? I guess you def. have the aussie accent by now??? and yea, know all about the faults.. after 33 years….but, have no desire to change a thing.. learned to go with the flow.

Can’t even imagine taking on race horses without any experience…. Very brave… Stuck with it though.. and now, you must know a great deal about them??

Understand the broke stuff… many do, in the horse industry, as well as other things. My husband used to have a horse barn where he stabled peoples horses, and had a trainer, to train his horse, and theirs, they were Tn. walking horses. Much corruption in that too, now and then, I suppose. Then for sure. I did not know him then.

I love horses, and we have two, one that needs to be broke, the other one needs to be ridden. But, hopefully that will change come spring. Should have more time this year to devote to pleasure, hope so, anyway. Many changes have taken place in the last few years.

Your place sounds great, i love the water, even though I never learned to swim, was never around it when I was small. If you are brave, and have a digital camera, you could take some pic and post on this post. I would enjoy seeing them, and Im sure others would too. Xeno did…. and each post seems to be infinite, holding many pictures. I guess you have the koi in a watergarden??? lovely…. I want to make one this spring. Wanted to last year, but, winter came too quickly. 100 years ..man.. didn’t have a clue….

wish you well with the music, have you tried to submit it to anyone??? all it takes is one time … and then you are off and running…

Reply from Barbyman /post/125676-some-question-about-australia-from#reply-3414039 i came to Australia as an immigrant 1961 only 19 years old could not speak there lingo totally confused ,Australia in those days was very backward at least 15 years behind Germany ,but you could not convince one Australian to do it like this or like that and so my journey began in this country 4years later i got married had 2 boys and still married to the same women its like and old car you know her and your faults. When the boys were 10 -14 respectively we bought 5 acres and started to breed and race racehorses i had no experience with horses ,never grew up with any we lived in the city wow what an experiance.27 years i stayed with horses i loved all of it but the end was i nearly went broke with so much corruption going on in the business the only money we made was from the property and that’s were we are now.A lovely place right on the water were i have my boat my Japanese koi fish i had some for thirty years and they still growing some can live up to 100 years and from last year i started to compose serious music i have written 10 complete songs and i love to compose maybe nothing comes out of it ,that don’t matter i still keep composing it really relaxes me, anyhow that is part of my story enjoy…

Reply from Silverwings /post/125676-some-question-about-australia-from#reply-3413877 Sounds very nice, Slimline… I guess that is what appeals to those, I have heard talking about it over the years. Less people, more relaxed atomsphere, mild winters…. does indeed, sound very appealing. How long have you lived there?? I would say anywhere would be easier than Canada to live in, weatherwise. My husbands niece lives in Alaska, in the wilderness, near Talkeetna, have to pipe in sunlight…. I can’t even imagine it.. they drive 8 miles on a snowmobile to get to their house… then they have no electricity… generators, she loves it.. and it is exactly what she wanted, having lived her lifetime in Alaska, but, it is surely not for me. I am a country girl at heart, so, i love the wide open spaces, but, not the wilderness.. I like my comfort. Use as much natural stuff as possible, solar energy, when possible, spring water, wood stove, etc. Trying to simplify my twilight years.. I guess you could say. Lived life in the fast lane, for the first half, trying a diff. approach for the remainder. Nice to talk to someone from another part of the world. Love the new technology. The computer, a window to the world.

Blessings….

Reply from Barbyman /post/125676-some-question-about-australia-from#reply-3406899 firstly it is not much difference from the states all the shops and shopping centres more or less have the same things, only in a smaller verging we only have 23 million people the same size as the states often i look at big cities and see all those people walking nearly on top of each other here its more relaxed and more than ten times less people than in the states i have being back to Germany a few times and its the same over there far to many people for my liking than comes the weather the winters are very mild compared to Europe or the states another thing Australia is one of the biggest and richest country in resources ideal for young engineers i think when i came to this country i made the right decision even though i have family in Canada to this day never regretted coming here now that i have all i always wanted hoping from the boss a few extra years to enjoy ….
