Reply from rabbit /post/126108-sushi-feeling-low-but-there8217#reply-3411474 Ha! I love your descriptions. NO way for squid. They are such amazing and smart creatures, that and cuttle fish or octopus, I could never eat.

Reply from OliveOil /post/126108-sushi-feeling-low-but-there8217#reply-3407648 Oooo, but I love sushi. It took some getting used to. I went to Japan for the first time when I was 12. I never forgot it. What a wonderful experience and exposure to a different culture and cuisine. In the states I have always been a fan of seafood growing up on the east coast with some Maine lobstermen for relatives. I wasn’t used to eating uncooked seafood though and when I moved to the west coast my Japanese friends that live here understood this. It really took some getting used to, but I learned to like the taste of chilled fresh fish, warm rice or tempura fried shrimp rolled in avocado, rice, salmon and seaweed wrap with a small cup of sake or “genmai cha” (green brown rice tea.) I am going out for sushi with a couple of friends tomorrow night. The only thing I have difficulty with is raw squid - the consistency!

Reply from Silverwings /post/126108-sushi-feeling-low-but-there8217#reply-3391198 I am like Mikie… for those of us old enough to remember… Mikie….

On Tv… if you didn’t like something… give it to Mikie….

But, I simply refuse some things…

1. sushi
2. artichokes
3. anchovies

But, that simply means that there is more out there for the ones that like it…..
