Reply from Starlight /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3461466 I understand how you feel, I always feel that way. I don’t have the physical pain part, but I feel very lonely some times. For me thou, and not some one in general, its one paticular person who I wish were laying beside me. A crush whom I love with all my heart, thou they don’t feel the same way. I’ve always tried to get over them, nothing has worked, thinking about it always make me so lonely. Before I go to sleep each night I always pretend that she’s beside me, and some times I dream dreams of us being together, they are so wonderful. The only problem is that once I wake up from one of them, for a momment I think they are ture, but them I remember they are not. The momment I remeber feels so horrible, my point with all this is that you are by no means alone.

Idk. I meet girls I like every now and then, and I have no problem talking to them. But I always end up being “just a friend”. It always happens to me.

I feel like all I’m ever going to be is “just a friend”.

Reply from maca888 /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3448626 Well honestly after reading romance novels i feel sick an nausiated, not through feelings of loneliness but because the books themselves are barely (although not quite) suitable as toilet paper.
Look dump the soppy unrealistic romance novels and stop being the heroine waiting to be rescued, ive found that the best way to meet new people is to do just that, leave the books for, “down time” and go join a sports club, social club even a book readers club would still be an option. Because men, usually dont climb through windows into your bedroom if they dont know you (unless they are trying to steal something mind you).
For feelings of loniless, id suggest dismising them, at 16 (and even 100) it is a natural human feeling.
For good reading material, id strongly suggest anything Terry Pratchett has written (Monsterous Regiment, Going Postal, just a few suggestions as a start point).
And finally for meeting people, get out there and join a club :)

Reply from tiajames8 /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3448247 I too sometimes feel really lonely, I am 21 but you are just 16 I think you have alot more important things to worry about. I was the same way always wondering when I was going to fall in love and I found that once I focused on other things it came to me. so I say just be patient and try not to get too wraped up in love novels after all they are just stories.

though im only thirteen, i feel the same way.
not exactly that i want them to be there right then,
but more of i wish i could fall in love with someone.
so dont worry, because your only 16 and you have your whole life to find someone.

Reply from Lone_Skater_Guy /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3435617 Not just girls. I’m a guy, 15, and I feel this way EVERY night. The pain is so horrible.

It’s bothers me A LOT, but I just deal with it. It’s out of my control, and there isn’t much I can do.

Guess I’m labeled as “The Sensitive One” out of all my friends.

Reply from kayt /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3435173 what’s funny is I’ve felt exactly that way…not about romance novels but…it’s all relative. I sleep horribly alone. I hate to suggest this because I’m sure everyone will think I’m crazy but…the way I deal with it is to just embrace it, put on some music and cry yourself to sleep. I think once you find a reason to wake up every morning…a belief or a cause…you’ll stop having time to be thinking about being alone. It’s really just a phase…and I’m sure you’ll get through it. Lets just say it’s that part of us we have that makes it so we’ll fall in love with someone else…even though it’s not always fun or easy.

Reply from US Navy? /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3391854
Just be strong it’ll be alright, normally it seems that the right person will just fall right into your lap with a little patience. Good luck :)
This is pretty much the best advice. If you told me that when I felt that way at 16, I would have said “It will never happen”. Tell me that now and I say.. “You are right”.

I used to feel the same way you do about particular movies. You are highly sensitive to love. You must be vigilant that things will work out in the end. Don’t give up, and try your best to keep faith that someone perfect will come along. Just when you get comfortable and “not really looking” someone is going to show right up and that will be that.

Reply from n1lko /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3391783 I know how you feel, sometimes i feel exactly the same way. Well, I don’t feel any physical pain like you described, but I know the loneliness and craving for someone to love you. But it’s ok, someone will eventually come along, its just a matter of patience/positive outlook, and being able to tell who is a good person for you as oposed to just anyone to make you feel better.

Reply from fengshuisweetheart /post/127456-sometimes-when-i-read-a-romance-bo#reply-3391781 Wow! You really suspend your disbelief for these books. It shows that you are a sensitive reader.

I think many people go through periods of time when they wish they had someone to be with them and care for them.

However, have you thought of adding other influences to your life? Perhaps reading books that encourage you to pursue other dreams and interests as well?

Also, remember, you are 16; do not rush into any relationships because of this need you feel. Make sure that anyone with youm you share your nights is really worthy of you.
