Reply from lynnettegri /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3713998 Ok you should use sea salt dissolved in water 2 times a day to get rid of teh infection

The rash means you are allergic to the belly ring
What material is it?

Reply from kaycnj3 /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3397890 Keep your clothes from rubbing it and keep it clean. When you can switch the stud do so in case your allergic to the one you have. That’s all you can do.

Reply from brightshine /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3396854 ugh … I think I will draw a dot on the side of my nose and see if I can tolerate it. I want to get my ears peirced again also. So that they have a triange appearance … three points … on the lobe does that makes sense? I had my belly pierced once … done it myself …. let it heal.

Reply from Shie /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3396802
uh … actually lil … peroxide is not good … unless it is rinsed away with sterile water. Peroxide actually breaks down the cells that are attempting to grow and seal off the open wound. (granulation tissue)

So, if you choose to use peroxide. Boil water and let it cool off without putting it into anything else. Dip sterile gauze - can be purchase at the drug store - into the pan of sterile water and rinse the peroxide off the wound.

The sterile water in the pan is only sterile for a brief time after it is boiled. Unless it is placed in a sterile container and cared for quite carefully.

Alcohol is just less work.
really? i have my nose and other places pierced and i used peroxide and never had an issue… i did not know that…

Reply from brightshine /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3396732 Sometimes the metal of the ring causes a chemical reaction that really irriates the wound. Call a dermatologist and find out the best type of metal … or call around and ask lots of peircing places … ususally the less irritating rings are more expensive.

But, still the advice I gave above is CRITICAL in it healing.

Just for the record … whenever deciding to get a peircing … go to the MOST reputable place!! It may be more expensive … but well worth the care.

Reply from Jinx /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3396713 that happened to my sister, did you try changing the ring?
sometimes its just the belly ring itself that causes the infection

Reply from brightshine /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3396642 What you need to do is keep it CLEAN and as much as possible keep it exposed to air.

Your belly button is a harbor of bacteria and bacteria thrive in dark, warm, moist places. Which BTW is what makes belly button piercing notoriously difficult to heal.

You must wash it with soap and water regularly and rinse it thoroughly. Then, use alcohol around and at the site …. gently twist and move the ring through the piercing hole so that the alcohol works its way into where the wound is raw.

Don’t fiddle with the peircing often … the bacteria from your hands will be transfered to the ring and promote infection.

FYI: recently ‘piercing professionals’ told a young girl I know not to clean her peircing with alcohol. ???? (this techniqe has worked for years and years) She acquired a horrible infection and needed to remove the ring.

Understand how bacteria grow and then inhibit the bacteria growth. Do not promote it.

Reply from Times' gone mad /post/127906-i-had-my-belly-ring-for-a-month-now#reply-3396617 You might be allergic to the ring.
Your clothes might be agitating the piercing.
Your piercist might have hit an oil duct.
Your body might just be upset—continue to do what the piercist advised, and call them and tell them it looks infected and see if they have any other advice.
