Reply from ravenkiko /post/151688-am-i-cutting-only-for-attention#reply-3639191 Hmmm, I cut, but I don’t really have a paticular reason why, so I don’t know if I can help you or not. I mean people bash self harm, and like tell you it’s bad (and I’m not saying it’s good!)… but maybe you should ask yourself reasons why you would do such a thing.

Reply from Bellle /post/151688-am-i-cutting-only-for-attention#reply-3637525 When you cut it releases endorphins in your body, which is why it creates a sort of ‘high’ & makes you feel better.

You can get these same endorphins from other things, such as exercising or chocolate. (& they are much safer!!)

If you have a problem trying talking to someone about it to relieve your stress.

Cutting can also be a form of ‘attention seeking’. Especially if you are wondering what others would think right after you are cutting. Try to find a better way of seelking attention, possibly by simply asking for it - say ‘I need to spend some time with you.’

You’e be surprised at how easy it can be to work things out!!

Reply from scarlettm1 /post/151688-am-i-cutting-only-for-attention#reply-3636260 I used to cut and I know what it’s like I think people do it for different reasons I now know why I did it and sometimes it’s hard not to but I’ve grown from the things that I’ve had to deal with in my life. After many years I started to see things in a different way… a better way, i’m not saying that things are good now i’ve just found new ways to deal with them. I was always scared that someone would find out when I used to cut. For me, it was a way to numb the emotional pain that I was feeling. If you don’t mind me asking has something happened that has made you turn to this, and if it is attention, negative attention is (I think) worse than no attention at all. I never had anyone to turn to for help while growing up, no ones attention to get, it took awhile but i’m finally okay with everything, “Pick the day. Enjoy it - to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present - and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.”- Audrey Hepburn

Reply from Proxy-Moron /post/151688-am-i-cutting-only-for-attention#reply-3636228 i believe that cutting yourself is a primitive way of achieving a sort of high.
Don’t you fel this odd sensation come over you when you do it. It’s sort of indescribable.
I’m not condoning it but just suggesting that your sub-conscience is yearning for some sort of thrill.
one that could be replaced by doing so?

Reply from heather* /post/151688-am-i-cutting-only-for-attention#reply-3636214 Either way, you shouldn’t cut. It’ll just hurt or kill you and worry other people. That’s not going to help anything.
