[Help] I can't finish school. Updates to this post /post/153928-i-cant-finish-school Mon, 08 Sep 2008 07:26:22 +0100 Reply from rsky61 /post/153928-i-cant-finish-school#reply-3667619 I have currently similar problems like you, I am behind with high school credits and I don’t think I am smart enough. More importantly I don’t think I could cope with the stress and the highly expected work given. Most of my family just finished high school and make a decent living, but I hate most if not all of my family. However, it seems as if I wount do any better. In fact, I think I will probably end up a bum. I know this probably doesn’t help at all, but I just wanted you to know that you’re not alone.

Reply from 2edeeze /post/153928-i-cant-finish-school#reply-3660683 Seriously, I can empathize with you. I felt this way last semester. I suggest you take a quarter/semester off, if your school allows it. And do some soul searching. College life isn’t as easy as people might say.

Reply from chev.jame /post/153928-i-cant-finish-school#reply-3660365 Understand school has got you “down.” But you must understand this: graduation from high school is life’s first major “gate.” If you do not finish high school, you will not find any opportunities other than menial, low-paying jobs. Society’s viewpoint is that if you can’t finish high school, you’re not going to succeed at anything else. That’s the plain, unvarnished truth. Now, you need to identify what it is you don’t like and find a way to make it at least tolerable for you. Caveat: not all teachers are exciting, and many subject areas are absolutely boring and tedious . . . just the way most bosses are not particularly inspiring, and just the way so much work is boring and tedious. But if you really want to find out the meaning of boring, tedious and unrewarding work, drop out of school and then find out what kind of employment opportunities await you. Hope this dose of reality helps! (P.S. Everybody has felt the same way!)

Reply from sjpancer /post/153928-i-cant-finish-school#reply-3660335 I found this site by typing “help” into google about half an hour ago, and was posting on it just for something to distract myself from…you know…life, but after checking back and reading this I am really surprised at how helpful reading the answers to my post was. Thank you.

Reply from larrythepig200 /post/153928-i-cant-finish-school#reply-3660275 I was in the same situation a couple of years ago but I made it through college even though most people assumed that I wouldn’t. I took a semester off and took a paid internship to help pay some bills. When I returned to school I cut my school schedule down to part time and worked to help pay for school. It took longer for me to graduate but it was worth it in the long run. Never, never, never give up.

A candle in a cave can’t see very far though.
