[Help] Creative Mp3 Vs Ipod Nano Updates to this post /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano Sun, 29 Nov 2009 21:30:08 +0100 Reply from mmoffatt1 /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3687860 A lot people have told me only the ipod can select individual songs. But it seems most have a scroll wheel now. (sorry I am kinda new to all this) I am trying to get one small enough for running and working out but still be able to choose individual songs or skip over songs withgout clicking through every song like the player I have now.(iclick)

yeah any decent mp3 player should do that for u.
just not shuffles and those pathetic things with 1 gig or less.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3683536 hey, someone brought up another point on another mp3 post that i forgot to mention. due to the fact that creative has not been as successful as apple, there arent as many accessories avaliable for the zen.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682485 hah, fine. The nano is a good mp3 player, you’ll be happy with it. But just saying, the zen does the exact same things and more for less money, so your wallet wouldve been happier with the zen.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682413 uhmmm well there are ways to convert it on your computer, and these methods are supposed to be very easy. I personally dont know how to. However, if you burn a wma files to a CD, they will be a in CD format. You can then rip them to your computer using itunes, and it will be in mp3 format. The opposite is true if you want to convert an mp3 into a wma.
The Zen takes both mp3 and wma.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682351 i have had mine since early 2005. The battery life isnt so good anymore. The battery originally lasted for 25 hours, now it lasts for about 10. Besides that, its still in fine working condition, and I can get a replacement battery and it would definetly last for anotehr 7 years. I do plan on getting a new Zen in august, but thats only because the microphoto is slightly outdated. I use my mp3 player A LOT. According to the play count tracker on my zen, i have listened to my #1 song nearly one thousand times, literally. I have found that most other people’s play count for their #1 song is around fifty, so that gives you an idea of how often i use my mp3 player. So yes, the zen should last you for like ten years.

I think song files with viruses will harm any mp3 player on the market.

Reply from Anonymous /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682302 Lol, ok. How long have u been using yours? I want something that can last for long as well…like 10 years. Do u know which format does the nano support? wma and mp3?

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682287 the battery last 5 hours when watching videos for both the zen and the nano.
for listening to music, the zen lasts 30 hours while the ipod lasts 24.
yeah, ipod is great with advertising, but that doesnt mean its better.
and yeah the zen has a radio function, i dont think the ipod does, but im not sure.

dont forget these are not the only two mp3 players on the market. There is also the zune, the dell dj, the iriver, etc. but i only know a lot about ipod and zen, cant help u with the other brands.

yeah, thats really the only reason why anybody who knows about the zen picks ipod over it…haha.
i get it, the marketing and popularity make everyone want an ipod. but zen isnt just a random generic brand. Like Apple, creative was also one of the first companies to launch mp3 players.

According to creative.com, the new zen now accepts .mp3 and files, so im thinking you probably can, but im not sure.
i have the zen microphoto and it only accepts wma, so i buy from itunes, burn it on a cd, rip the cd to my computer using windows media player, then sync the music onto my microphoto with windows media player. I dont mind doing that just cause i like having an extra copy of my music on cd.

ANd i cant deny that creative has better functions…but its like i so want a nano…i’m crazy! And is it true that i can only upload the music from itunes to the nano? Cani get it from other sources?

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682254 but if you’re willing to fork out an extra $50 because the ipod looks better, then go for it. (that price comparision is between te 8 gig Zen and the 8 gig ipod nano.)

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682239 Yes, its true creative is not as aesthetically pleasing as the ipod. However, it has all the same functions except for maybe games (not sure about that), a more advanced DJ, and a microphone. Basically, the zen will do the exact same things for you that an ipod will, and even more, for a lot less money.

people who say ipods are better than zens never have an educated reason as to why they think that. I’ve written articles comparing mp3 players for my school newspaper and EVERY single time i interview people asking their opinions and they say ipod, their reasoning is usually “because they hold like 5000 songs”, well, the same is true for ANY mp3 player. another example
i like the nano, … itplay vids: )
well so does the zen. (no offense to anon.)

and yes it is light.

Reply from Anonymous /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682165 I want something which i can carry with me for jogging or do some exercises. I’m looking for something with music, videos and a cool design. One thing about ipod that attracts me is its buttons and design. I think they are really cool.

As for creative, i don’t mind hte recording function. It can come in handy. Are there games?

But as for the design, i don’t really like how creative looks. I don’t know. I mean i thought i was sure i want a ipod nano 3rd gen but my sister told me about how its so much lousier than the creative and advised me to buy creative mp3s instead.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682127 the only thing i dont like about the zen mp3 players is that they no longer have removable batteries! None of the ipods do either, but the zens used to…. that was nice.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682108 oh also, the Zen’s battery is supposed to last up to four hours longer than the ipod’s. However, after a couple years, it wont last for as long. im not sure if thats true for the ipod’s battery.
and the zen has a slot for an additional memory card.

im not sure what file format u need for ipod. im pretty sure .mp3 and .mp4 works, and i think it might accept more. The Zen microphoto only takes wma, im not sure if the new Zen takes more.
it should not delete all your old files. Whoever you heard that from mustve messed up somehow.

and that depends on what you want.

the zen vision is the most advanced of the creative mp3 players. It has sixty gigs of storage, not something that most people would need.

the Zen is the one most people would get. comes in 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 gigs. music, videos, photos, microphone. 2.5″ screen. its a sure bet.

Zen V is also a very reliable player, but it only comes in 2 and 4 gigs

zen stones and zen nanos are strictly for those who only want music and nothing more. I think they are like ipod shuffles. Just upload about 500 songs and itll shuffle them for you.

Reply from Anonymous /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682077 What about the uploading process…like to upload those music into the mp3. I heard that i have to change to to some kind of format before i can do it for ipod? Is it true? ANd if i want to add a new song into my ipod, it will delete all my old files?

Do u know what format do they support? N which zen series is better?

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682062 i have the zen microphoto. it was discontinued, the Zen is its replacement. one con to the zen is that the controls are a bit harder to figure out. however, it does have some features and functions the ipod doesnt (ie: microphone, dj etc.). Then again, ipod has games and the zen microphoto does not. im not sure if the Zen does.

Reply from TheJDevil /post/155785-creative-mp3-vs-ipod-nano#reply-3682035 the creative zen is slightly larger but costs a lot less than the ipod nano for the same amount of storage OR costs the exact same as the ipod nano for twice as much storage.
the only reason it isnt as successful is cause creative is crap at advertising and apple does a great job promoting their products.
