When I think gothic, I think more of a freedom attained by those who understand how to both be themselves, and how to accept their own mortality. Most of the world spends their years trying to turn back clocks and extend themselves beyond their years. I’ve not known many people of the goth mentality to spend hours agonizing over the end of all things.

So someday we’re all going to die. So what? Live in the now. Accept your fate.

The fact that you don’t pidgeonhole easily is only more proof that as much as you “desire” to be a part of the gothic “scene,” you’re really already a part of it.

Just don’t be afraid to dress the part ^.^

Then be your unique self, I think that’s always best. If it’s the real you, then let everybody see it, and if it bothers them…whatever, they’re not worth your time anyway.
