[Help] Helpful Affirmation Updates to this post /post/171683-helpful-affirmation Tue, 08 Dec 2009 14:44:08 +0100 The post was edited by Michael Leibman /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-7765470 Michael Leibman Sat, 24 Jan 2009 14:35:51 +0100 Reply from AKITHMA /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3875690 reality defined by the mass,or is it inability to bare witness to alternate truths as defined by sensitive others, ones having individual enlightenment, self gnosis, alternate insight,
perceptions of a limited few,or just a failure to reason any thing other than what we have been taught, come now oh visionaries share the wisdom of thinking outside the box,all this dialog in anolog, take the digital stroll
if not contemplation based on reason, why is perception being illusionary ,what are we to define or compare reality to ,in a universe of so many variables wavelengths and dimensional frequencies, what is illusionary in a world where some see truth thru different perspectives and understanding,or are we just hypnotised ,cloaked by suggestive propaganda and limited expression and impressions, concealed within the makeup of atomic arrangements, life in cognito, counterfeit cloning techniquies ,who are we ,as we lunge from the reality of the womb and its limited internal information which once moulded reason and reality, defining our nature ,placement and all.and into a ever greater understanding of its external realms or so we perceive

life based on restraints ,perimeters and laws ,principals and powers ,who dares break the mould ,oppose the grain ,ignore the limitations, open doors to the unseen eye and mind,is this everything or nothing ,part or whole ,can you be certain?

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3875015 I’ll probably have a different perspective after I consider Akithma’s contribution above. I agree that I was agreeing and disagreeing and being disagreed with, but now I’m going to watch a Tool video (which seems somewhat dark and violent.)

Reply from Tictactomm /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3874983 I think Michael was agreeing with you kmichelle, in his own unique way. But hey, perception is reality!

Reply from kmichelle /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3874937 You’re certainly welcome, I love these types of discussions.

But I still disagree. =P

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3874931 Perception can be illusory. Consider a mirage in the dessert. It is an optical illusion — there’s not really water there, just a trick of light and heat waves.

And that’s good to remember because so often people are mistaking their cruddy perception for the reality of the situation. Consider those with a negative outlook. The world is really not that bad, but their false perception of reality might end up making the actual circumstances of their life worse.

Which is saying the same thing you said, kmichelle, but starting with the opposite premise, that perception is not reality.

(Thanks for actually considering my original issue here … it really is deeply important to me, I just for some reason go off on tangents like this.)

Reply from kmichelle /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3874906 I do believe, truly, that perception is reality. Its very obvious to see in real life, when you’re paying attention.
For example, don’t you notice that happy people, who are optimistic and have a positive outlook on life, tend to have the better, happier lives?
And those who think the world is out to get them, and feel sorry for themselves all the time have nothing and no one.
How you perceive your world has so many more minute effects on your life than anyone really realizes. Its how you deal with everyday situations, and how you react to everyday stresses that influences the overall picture of your life.
You know what I mean?

Sorry, I just felt like throwing in my two cents to that earlier conversation. =)

I was wishing for such an inspirational, intelligent, energetic spirit.
I agree… You should write and publish your stuff……
I’m not offended because you don’t know me very well. And I understand that if I’m to use this site I have to write and ‘publish’ it.
I also think that observation, and affirmation… are both very useful in our lives…as well as necessary to our well being….
thanks for that… it may not be obvious on the surface but this post is all deep contradictions to me. Maybe they should all just be friends.

The title of your post, seems very upbeat….and happy…..
yes, that itself brightened my day that it no longer said “I need money.” under my replies.

Thank you.

just thought id share the lyrical thoughts behind that video youve partially showed,as i consider it also to be very profound positive affirmation worth sharing ,hope you dont mind ,i just dig Tool, and this is one of their best, they have been a source of inspiration and lifting to me throughtout my jouney through this world

[youtube:http://youtube.com/watch?v=RiV_ue-PbL4&feature=related]

We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment,
We are choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside
This holy reality, this holy experience.
Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Alive, I

In this holy reality, in this holy experience. Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Twirling round with this familiar parabol.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. we are eternal.
all this pain is an illusion.

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3866452 That all makes sense… so, back to odes to joy:

Translation:

O friends, no more these sounds!Let us sing more cheerful songs,More full of joy!
Joy, bright spark of divinity, Daughter of Elysium, Fire-inspired we tread Thy sanctuary.Thy magic power re-unites All that custom has divided, All men become brothers, Under the sway of thy gentle wings.

Whoever has created An abiding friendship, Or has won A true and loving wife, All who can call at least one soul theirs, Join our song of praise; But those who cannot must creep tearfully Away from our circle.

All creatures drink of joy At natures breast. Just and unjust Alike taste of her gift; She gave us kisses and the fruit of the vine, A tried friend to the end. Even the worm can feel contentment, And the cherub stands before God!

Gladly, like the heavenly bodies Which He sent on their courses Through the splendor of the firmament; Thus, brothers, you should run your race, like a hero going to victory!

You millions, I embrace you. This kiss is for all the world! Brothers, above the starry canopy There must dwell a loving father.

Do you fall in worship, you millions? World, do you know your creator? Seek Him in the heavens; Above the stars must he dwell.

Reply from Tictactomm /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3866397 I hear it from my boss all the time. On a practical level I think it pertains to the “truth” of an event. It doesn’t really matter what actually happened, only what people perceive the bares consequence to the present. And their perception is altered by their own prejudiced perspective, and influenced by the peceptions and comments of others.

If you look at all the hubub between a few longtime users here over the last few days, I think the “reality” of what happened gave way to the biased perception of it depending on who you were talking to.

Another similar quote: “History is written by the victors”. The winners of a conflict get to pick and choose what future generations will take as truth. The American Revolutionary War, for example.

On a philosophical level, does reality exist without our perception of it? If a tree falls in the forest…

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3866375 Thanks tictactomm … I’m curious about the phrase “perception is reality”, and a year ago I was directly researching philosophical implications or sources of such an idea, but as you say it literally, I’m curious, do you have any idea where you’ve heard it? Or is it just a common sort of saying?

Reply from Tictactomm /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3866369 Perception is reality. I woke up to the Ode to Joy playing on my radio alarm recently and I was completely blown away. It was very strange. I’m not sure if I dragged whatever I was dreaming (which I can’t remember) into my awake mind. That music took me somewhere. I felt infused with sudden connection upon hearing it, as though my life had a context to the universe that was mine to understand if only for a brief moment. I’ve listened to snippets of Ode to Joy in the past, but never like that.

And then I saw this post and decided to ramble on about it since you were talking about linking to a past memory/feeling. And then this post got me thinking, why not wake to the Ode To Joy every morning?

Reply from kmichelle /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3864565 Affirmations always work for me. When I’m feeling down, or upset, I affirm that everything that happens is meant to be, and that I have everything I need to make it inside of me.
Is that what you were looking for?

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/171683-helpful-affirmation#reply-3864152 Maybe I should free my mind. I have this big writing disability, and it can become problematic to the point where I can’t write anything and people are telling me, “Write a book.” So I try to focus all my attention on how I really can write, I am a good writer, because that’s what it takes for me to write anything usually, but then my mind is so full of my ability to write (or communicate) that I can’t communicate the absolute most important thing which is how I am so limited by my writing/communication disability.
