[Help] Sesame Street's Bert & Ernie Updates to this post /post/184277-sesame-streets-bert-e Sat, 28 Nov 2009 23:31:04 +0100 Reply from OliveOil /post/184277-sesame-streets-bert-e#reply-4053974 LOL …glad you also enjoyed! I sometimes watch it over again and just crack up. Its another I thought was pretty clever!

Yes. I don’t know why that second clip stuck in my memory bank… that one and the opera, singing orange! My first intro to Carmen! LOL!

And this one made me close my ears and eyes. I would almost cry watching it for some odd reason. My father loved the musical piece, but it would somehow make me sad…

As for the second clip, that’s a bit scary how I totally forgot about that and hearing the song it all came back to me. Sesame Street was my all time fav.

Reply from OliveOil /post/184277-sesame-streets-bert-e#reply-4038526 Oh wow! Didn’t think of you as being 14! I was guessing you were up in my age bracket! LOL! But that is cool you have noticed the differences in the shows over the years since your own childhood. I think when I was around 14 or 15 I started to notice they weren’t the same anymore. I would watch what the kids I babysat watched and wonder what became of the characters and episodes I looked forward to seeing. I don’t think I ever stopped watching Sesame Street though. LOL! Theres just something about that program!

This used to be one of my favorite clips…

My mom even used to like this watching this one over our shoulders!

Reply from OliveOil /post/184277-sesame-streets-bert-e#reply-4037727 Yeah… I miss the Sesame Street of old. It is a bit different from what I remember. I like that they intersperse some of the old episodes in there once in a while though! :)

Yes! some of those kid shows have material thats not really original or doesn’t encourage much thinking on the part of children. I remember I would watch Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Electric Company and Marlin Perkin’s Wild Kingdom all in one night. I would get a nice dose of academic and social training from these programs as a kid. My sister and brother actually bought some of the old episodes on DVD to share with their kids!

Reply from OliveOil /post/184277-sesame-streets-bert-e#reply-4037596 Yes! I thought whoever spliced together or edited the videos did a great job! The puppet’s movements and the lyrics are synchronized so well! I was impressed …and I was cracking up watching it.

I actually remember some of those episodes from my childhood and seeing it the the music now just makes me laugh harder! :))
