[Help] back pains. Updates to this post /post/185226-back-pains Sun, 08 Nov 2009 15:01:37 +0100 Reply from nanny shark /post/185226-back-pains#reply-4051285 Ooh, I used to have lower back pain when I got up too. At first I thought it was because of weight-lifting, but I realized it only happened while I was in bed. It turned out to be a combination of how soft my bed was and my posture when I sleep. A couple of things you could try:

1.) Try sleeping without the memory foam cover. A little more support to your back should keep everything in line.
2.) Instead of sleeping on your stomach or side, try sleeping on your back. That helped me tremendously. If you do sleep on your side, or think you may roll on it anyway in the night, just put a pillow between your legs. It won’t help a TON, but it will keep whatever leg’s on top from pulling at your back muscles.
3.) Like everyone else said, exercise for your back and warm showers couldn’t hurt, though I never tried it myself.

I really hope it comes to an end for you. Back pain sucks.

Reply from sunbeam 202 /post/185226-back-pains#reply-4050620 Try to play sports relate to the back muscles, you also need a daily warm shower (as pillsburydogir said) and this should be before you go to sleep.
Hope that this help

Reply from pillsburydogir /post/185226-back-pains#reply-4050594 Ibuprofin.

You may have a slipped/bulging disc in your back. Yes, it can happen to you at your age. You’re not too young.

Hubby has had a bad back for years. Too much showing off heavy lifting when younger, twising when lifting does it too.

I thought I had a back of steel (yet was careful about my lifting technique) A month ago I was just lying on the floor watching TV. Just turned to my left side and OW! I mean, it was nothing. Nothing, and yet my back hurt terribly for 2 weeks! Ibuprofin helped a LOT. However it started making me feel ill (only took one every 4-6 hours) Stopped taking it and improved. Back is good, but I still feel stifness (not pain)

See your doc… better yet, a GOOD chiropractor (with references!) Good ones can really make a difference. Bad ones can at worst make things worse or simply waste your time with nothing

It is not all about the mattress! Or the truck seat, or the computer chair seat, or the lifting bla bla bla. Been there!

See your doc. Take an ibuprofin (reduces inflammation)

Reply from hardy8 /post/185226-back-pains#reply-4050581 Sometimes rotating your mattress (putting the “head” part of the mattress where the “foot” would be while also taking the “top” side and rotating it over to make it the “bottom” side) can help work out lumps.

no, no injurys. the only heavy thing i lift is my hamsters big fish tank cage. lol but i never felt myself pull a muscle.
i think the tempur pedic is a strong foam. its the really soft squishy foams that seem to cause problems. maybe you should sleep on the floor a few nights see if the back pain goes away.
and yes, i thinking about sleeping on the floor tonight and see how that helps

so harder bed would be a better idea than a tempur pedic/foam bed?

Reply from ashleyy /post/185226-back-pains#reply-4050534 i thought that too but kidneys are more on either side, rather than the middle where my pain is.

Reply from dude22blue /post/185226-back-pains#reply-4050528 it could be anything from a lump in the bed to something physical like… your chest growing larger then your body frame.
