Updates to this post /post/190493-does-anybody-know-anything-about-ap Tue, 08 Dec 2009 15:44:33 +0100 Reply from princessclaire /post/190493-does-anybody-know-anything-about-ap#reply-4124150 yeh ul prob need 4 or 5 a’s at alevel tho. to be honest cambridge is a good uni but theres loads of other good universities out there that have good well respected degrees. and it also depends on what u want to do! u need to go for like interviews and stuff and you can either apply directly to cambrige or via UCAS! and congrats on your results, if you work that hard at a level ull be fine

Reply from Dorian /post/190493-does-anybody-know-anything-about-ap#reply-4121470 Everyone else applying will be predicted straight As at A level, so if you’re not that puts you at a disadvantage straight away. Try and cram as much extra-curricular stuff into the next year as you can - drama or debating are always good choices as they show confidence and public speaking ability, and something like first aid might be good if you’re thinking of doing medicine. If you can play a musical instrument you want to get graded as highly as possible in the next two years as well.

Also, if you can play the organ you’re almost guaranteed a place ;)

Reply from Cosmic Fool /post/190493-does-anybody-know-anything-about-ap#reply-4121438 If you want to get into Oxford or Cambridge (or any of the “most prestigous” uni’s), you’ll have to go to an interview too, and they’ll pick well rounded people. So if you play an instrument, or do a Sport, or volunteer, anything like that, you’ll be in a good position. Also, if possible any work experience in a Medecine environment, hospitals or Pharmacies etc, will count in your favour. It will show Cambridge you have a real interest and passion for the subject.

They look for more than just grades, not to say you wont still need all A’s at A-level. But looking at your GCSE results, that shouldn’t be a problem!

Good luck, and enjoy your A-levels =)
