Reply from rxhybrid /post/194819-cant-sleep#reply-4187943 Check out “sleep hygiene” on the internet.

Only go to bed when tired. Otherwise stay out of the bed. Use it for sleep only.

Warm milk can help, so can melatonin. Diphenhydramine can help you sleep, but only use that if you are an adult, or with the permission of your parent or guardian.

Melatonin works also, but again use only if you are an adult or with permission of your parent or guardian.

If you do use melatonin or diphenhydramine, use them every other night. It’s ok to miss a day of sleep every other night.

Stop the caffeinated drinks! Especially after 4pm.

Exercise! That will really help. Breathing exercises. Tighten your muscles one at a time and then relax them. Right leg, left leg, right arm, left arm.

If that all fails, go see your doctor.

Reply from Demented /post/194819-cant-sleep#reply-4185789 Exercise or do some intense activity to get to motivated and to exhaust yourself. Afterward you will fall into “REM sleep” REM sleep is when you immediately sleep due to the energy that is used from your body.

Reply from help.4u /post/194819-cant-sleep#reply-4185739 Close your eyes. Shut off the TV .. radio .. whatever. Don’t stress out over the thoughts racing through your mind. Let it happen. You are going to put your body to sleep one part at a time. Focus on your feet. Let your mind feel all of the sensations coming from them. Realize that your feet weigh a thousand pounds. You can not lift them. Your feet are completely relaxed. Asleep.
Focus on your calves .. let all of the stress and tension drift out of them as they sink into your bed heavier than you can lift.
Keep doing this and .. zzzzzzzzzz

Reply from Christofu /post/194819-cant-sleep#reply-4185722 Check your diet and general stress levels, also keep note of how many hours sleep you’re getting, I work nights and have found a certain number of hours that allows me to function well at night and have time to myself in the day. It all adds up suprisingly enough

Reply from (>'')>~~~Kyle /post/194819-cant-sleep#reply-4185694 wait till the weekend if you are in school. But get up early one day (around 7:00 or so) and don’t take any naps during the afternoon. Then go to bed around 8:00 (pm not am lol) or so. The next morning you should wake up sooner and it should all sort itself out
