Reply from sunar /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4507495 I’ve read quite a bit about schizophrenia (among other illnesses) and it’s really not always so cut and dry as people may think. Schizophrenia and Bi-polar disorder are commonly misdiagnosed for one another. In some cases I’ve read that “untreatable schizophrenia” patients may turn out to actually be bi-polar, and start responding to the new treatment as such. I’m not here to diagnose you, I’m not a dr. I’ve just always had an interest in psychological/physical disorders and psychology so I read quite a bit about it. Unfortunately, not as much as I use to. Symptoms can vary on how severe they are. Does it disrupt daily life? Certainly, but there are people who are able, and do lead productive lives. It varies from person to person. If you are worried about it, at least tell your parents that you feel you would like to speak to a dr. You don’t have to come out and say that you think you have a specific disorder if you’re not comfortable with that. Just explain to them that there are some things you think you would like to try and sort out by speaking with one. I hope this has been helpful.

Here is an article I found interesting for anyone who would like to take a look.

Reply from lifeless /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4311643 Well, I dont think that the schoolnurse can help you, but its good anyhow if you ask for it, and no, you wont just wake up and think ‘omg, I’ve got paranoia!’ Dont worry there.

Reply from Anonymous /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4311528 thanks for that, i might see the school nurse but i’m gonna have to think about it incase it is just a phase caused by stress or what ever…

my main concern was waking up one day to find that this paranoia or what ever it is has got to the point where i dont realise it… I’m guessing it doesnt actually happen that fast but its the main thing that bugging me,

thanks anyway ;)

Reply from lifeless /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4311103 Shizophrenic is really not that ’soft’ but I think you should anyhow try to seek for help. Then better you destroy this, if it is shizophreni or something like that at the beginning, before it gets worse like by MsNay.
And most of the times, if multiple personoality, paranoia or shizophrenic, it often starts when you are small, that it just starts with 20 isn’t true.

But even if know its not a ‘eral proble’ I think it’d be the best if you let a professional look at this. Really, I know some people who said in the beginning ‘Oh its nothing’ and as years went by, (3-6) they really had big problems, and when you wait to long, you can’t be helped anymore.

You shouldnt take it too lightly, even if I do not want to make you afraid, just dont think thats its ‘no big deal’.
And if then the result is that you’r ‘just’ a physic, well then you may be able to get control over that and become some professional? Would be cool, right?
So, better let someone look at this.

Reply from MsNay /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4310238 I don’t think you’re scitzophrenic. I have a loved one who is and you would be much worse off if you had. I do think you have anxiety and or paranoia. I had a similar problem that started when I was about 16. It slowly got worse though. It started as just a fear that I was going to be killed while taking a shower and got to the point where I was so terrified that I had to shower with the curtain open. It really is something that can take over your life. If you are against taking drugs, then I suggest going to a counsler of some sort.

Reply from Anonymous /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4308883 alright…

its just that it started about 4 years ago and has (from my perspective) steadily got ‘worse’…

and no, whatever it is, doesnt cause problems with my life but what if it keeps getting worse, i mean theres no way to tell how far it will continue, if i have it, and i’m just a bit scared that it could escilate to…

and that fact that the guy on this blogg i mentioned said he’d been diagnosed with moderate-servere Schizophrenia before he even got the paranoia…

thanks for you advice thoguh, i feel a bit better knowing my situation may not be as bad as i first though ;)

Reply from spiratec9 /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4308847 well then maybe you do have a very mild form of schizophrenia.
Doesn’t sound too serious. And many people who have it function well enough.
But if it is of concern you can have it diagnosed.
I hate to see people go on drugs though.
Trying to avoid them if you can.

Reply from spiratec9 /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4308838 the music reminds me of a lady who said she could hear a radio station in her head.
She phoned the police often about this problem. They came over and couldn’t figure it out. Finally an officer got real close to her head and listened
and sure enough he could hear the radio station too.
It turned out that the lady had a funny metal filling which was picking up the radio signal. When the filling was removed and replaced radio station ended.
Do you have any filings?

yes, but the point is that it has to start smoewhere and i feel like i’m slipping…

and its not that kind of paranoia, you wouldnt understand it without living my life for a while, nobody understands it…

Reply from spiratec9 /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4308823 The one about someone calling your name is a bit puzzling.
But perhaps you have a name that is easily embedded in other sounds.

Reply from Anonymous /post/203894-i-think-i-might-be-schizophrenic8#reply-4308789 No, I mean in general. I have been thinking about it for a while. I thought I might have s.p.d. before now and that is just the way I have been viewing it. I never looked up about it I only knew what others told me that’s why I was so surprised by the symptoms you listed

Schizophrenia is a much more severe disease. It interferes with normal life
in a big way. Particularly it doesn’t allow you to sleep properly
because you hear voices, etc..
