I blame Yourabi for this. The implementation was probably forced upon him, but his execution of it is terrible.

advertising was inevitable…. but the page can also be a lot more developed and useful.

I actually use the front page to look at the newest posts. I think the see which friends are online could be put in your profile, it already shows some of your friends there, why not implement it there?
