This happened to me right now today. i coudnt breathe niether through my nose and my mouth was full of mocus and coudnt parsly breathe anything through my mouth. i was so scared i thought that i would die but suddenly woke up. ussualy when i fight to wake up when im having this and i finally wake up, i have an extreeme sleepyness and just close my eyes, but asoon as i close my eyes, it strikes again! it once happened to me over 5 times! i dont know what is happening to me, if someone knows please tell me how is the desease called, what happens, why it happens and how to prevent it, thanks :)[/quote]

Hey Alfredo, what’s goin on? Hopefully you have solved your sleeping problem. I have read through quite a few posts and all of them seem to vary slightly. It seems to me that I have the exact same issue as you, just not as frequently. The only thing I am able to control in this paralysis state is my eye movement and I can hear/see things moving out of my peripheral. I have always been able to pull myself out of this, but it seems to take about 15 seconds. My problem initially was being able to fall asleep after these events took place. Try sleeping on your side after these take place, that has worked well for me. I don’t know why, but I think I’ve only gone into this paralysis while sleeping on my back. Just something to think about, hopefully it helps.

-Jerry

Reply from rahimu /post/217954-does-anyone-heard-of-sleep-p#reply-5010992 I think its all to do with the brain. I get this too every now and then and I know what you guys and girls are saying you cannot move or scream. I dont really belive its ghosts or anything evil but in some cases I have read it does get much more voilent and alot scarier as the brain hits REM mode which is the dream level and some what beyond I belive. The only thing I can say about this is sleep to someone who knows your condition! Dont fall asleep stressed or angry and defintly dont think too much what will happen or what you see or hear. For everyone I can surely belive this is a subject that goes beyond the mind itself in to another world but who knows which realm we enter.

Reply from cynthiacastillo1 /post/217954-does-anyone-heard-of-sleep-p#reply-4913989 I personally been dealing with this issue as well. It started when i was twelve, and now im nineteen. I actually expierenced this yesterday. IT started with my eyes being closed but i was able to hear what was going on around me. Then all of a sudden, I was able to open my right eye. I remember looking around and hearing myself breathing fast and hard, my younger cousin was watching me and knowing she was awake I wanted her to wake me up. Doing so, I tried so hard to move my head back and forth it seemed forever. My head was shacking rapidley, and I personally remember telling myself,”OMG” and I began to pray. I was so exhausted of trying to move my body then I began shacking my feet. A few seconds later, I woke up and I sat up and I was terrified. My weak body began to shack and every night Im hoping that it doesnt happen!

Reply from Neutra /post/217954-does-anyone-heard-of-sleep-p#reply-4494088 Because I occasionally get sleep paralyzes myself. Sometimes I dream about stuff too before I wake up unable to move for a few seconds. That funny feeling you get is probably because of the blood trying to move through your body. Also sometimes you can move a few parts of your body like your eye lids and head, and sometimes you can physically move yourself if you strain hard enough but it takes alot of energy and it’s probably best to just let if wear of by itself. You have to be careful because they say that people can die from this sometimes and if this keeps up then you really should see a doctor. And also the light and stuff is probably you still dreaming.

Reply from zephyr /post/217954-does-anyone-heard-of-sleep-p#reply-4494028 ok…but how can you explain this:
Few days ago in the morning like 7:00am, i was dreaming then i suddenly feel there is a light apporaching me, then i can’t move my body…
I feel that there is like a light eletricity flows accross my body…
i woke up in fear.

Reply from Neutra /post/217954-does-anyone-heard-of-sleep-p#reply-4493998 It’s highly doubtful that it’s because of ghost. Most likely the main reason for sleep paralyzes is because of a combination of poor blood flow and brain waves. The thing is half of the brain is still in a type of sleep mode and has to completely wake up before you can move.
