Reply from simple1 /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4545162 I think I will get myself a Koi fish painting for my home…there are so many lovely paintings of them I found on the internet…check them out Barbyman. They are beautiful.

One day, when he was about 11 years old, Ou-Yang Guo-De came upon a train that had stopped on the tracks. Under the train he saw a bounty of corncobs. He climbed under the train to get the precious cobs when tragedy stuck. The train began to move, and literally cut him in half…

The details he told me about this event were so vivid that they are a bit too graphic for a happy art listing. He still remembers everything that happened until he lost consciousness, expecting to die.

Though pieces of his story are missing from when he was unconscious, there must have been a miracle involved because somehow he survived. The nearest hospital was far away, and while he has no idea how he got there before bleeding to death, that’s were he woke up. But both of his legs and his left arm were gone forever.

In China, the most likely occupation for a disabled person like him would be to become a beggar on the street, but not Ou-Yang Guo-De!

He continued to study and go to school, and went to work at an umbrella and parasol factory. He showed a lot of natural artistic talent, so the factory owner sent young Mr. Ou-Yang to art school for two years. After graduation, he went to work hand painting beautiful scenes on rice paper and silk parasols.

After many years at the factory, working for low wages, he decided to make a change. He took a leap of faith and went out on his own as an artist. It was a little rough at first, but it turned out to be a good decision.

He has done well, and has quite a following. Also, he is a little famous for more than his art. You see, a few years ago, he was given an award by the government of China for being an example of what disabled people should aspire to.

But there is something about him that is different. This guy totally loves life. He is truly happy and good-natured. He laughs and tells jokes and is the life of the party. He is not a social outcast, but rather a social phenomenon. He is surrounded by a lot of friends because I think his friends feed off of his enthusiasm for life - I certainly felt it myself.

I spent several days with the artist, and I may be forever changed. Whenever I think I am in a tough spot, or difficult circumstance, all I have to do is think about Mr. Ou-Yang. If he can overcome what he did, then I can overcome my petty problems.

That Barbyman is the life of the artist who painted a beautiful Koi fish painting with lotus flowers….hope u liked the story…its real life.

Btw the reason why I didnt cry…if u wanna know is…coz I couldnt I went numb inside. I became the brave girl for my poor mom who was in pieces and my younger bro…..just been brave for everyone else to see. I am in the medical field by profession, every time I get a document on a patient with some problems I feel like I am reliving the past….I wouldnt know what to do and I pray to god to help me and he does for the most part see me thru that day. My daddy was a very brave man…..he knew he was dying but would ask me to go watch TV…..now tell me which dad does that.

Reply from Barbyman /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4542549 you know i just hate anything with War.Often like we have Parades in Australia, were soldiers marching and showing of there medals It disgusts me its Showing of and its promoting Wars .There is not a Place in the world were Australian Soldiers are not involved. Australians love to go to war ,they just love it they think they helping? But its just the opposite, Its making Enemies.but this just me so don’t take this wrong .I just think promoting wars and marching ?No its not for me .Look at the fish i have about 70 Japanese koi the eldest is 32 years old .he is not a good looking fish but i love him and the bludger knows it.They never fight its beautiful to see.

Reply from Bogdan (Gone) /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4542469 You have to find an agent you really likes your stuff and knows some people, then you can get published. I will be starting a website once I have some money where I will publish things in ebook format. Cheaper, more efficient, reaches a lot of people, etc.

The fluffies are going well. I am too distractable to write all my ideas down, but I am forming them all the time. :D

I, myself, am going quite well too.

Wed, 26 Nov 2008 21:12:32 +0100 Reply from Nearlymello /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4535228 Honestly, I think inspiration is overrated. Sure, it’s great when it happens, but sometimes you just have to force yourself to write. You won’t get better if you just wait around until you’re inspired, and then write and wait again. You need to give yourself challenges and limitations if you really want to improve.

Force yourself to write 1000 words. Just keep going, you can edit later.
Force yourself to finish a story within 100 words, at the other end of the spectrum.
Choose a topic or a set of words and prompt yourself to include them in whatever you write. … and so on.

Also, research! Research places, people, diseases, none of which have to be horribly exotic, and you’ll have a wider range of things to write about accurately and convincingly. Don’t wait for inspiration to come to you, go out and grab your next idea.

What do you mean miss another whole day? And I know I could fix it that way, that’s what I usually do, but if I don’t sleep, I’ll conk out way too early for a couple days and I have to stay up until at least midnight on Friday and Saturday, and probably later. So I’ll probably sleep for a couple hours, so I’ll go to bed earlier but not too early. (It makes sense to me.)

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4534827 I had a friend who decided to be a book-writer and coincidentally he also drank a lot of alcohol when I saw him some time after highschool. I say coincidentally because I’m sure it’s coincidence. I would like to be able to write things down coherently, to sort out my thoughts or write letters to people but I sincerely doubt that getting into the habit of drinking alcohol would help me at all with that.

One red hen
Two running hares
Three brown bears
Four simple simons
Five fat frivolous female
Six once again six simple simons
Seven Siamese sailors sailing seven seas seven times
Eight elevating elephants elevating eight elevating elevators
Nine, red leather, yellow leather, rubber baby buggy bumpers

Reply from Bogdan (Gone) /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4530565 Once upon a time, there a pu$$y cat, but it was made of putty and some hand made it into a dragon, all the while, it had 6 toes. It was named Xenobarbylainaealdan and breathed various “weeds”. When it went to the dunny, it made rainbows and marshmallows. One day, it went outside to see that its creator was a moron grasping at straws and bringing them together to create a world green in colour, or at least the grass was. The mountain were red and made of iron. In this world, there were pyramids with portals to the stars where resources were gather for the use of the populace.

What do you think so far?

It was going to be a windy night. The roaring of the wind in the trees was telling me long before the day started. As the dusk settled in for the graveyard shift, the curious 6 toed cat was approached by a daunting figure of a man. With a swift twitch of his wrist, the man took the cat down to 5 toes, and 8 lives. Disappearing into the shadow, the dastardly deed would never be known.

Thought flow… When I get really stuck, I spend some time on here, then wait for things to slow down and get dull and stare at my story until something clicks. Oh, and Xeno’s right, music can totally help. Sometimes new music can inspire you.

Reply from Mr. Peterson /post/221231-so-writing-things#reply-4530399 Eat a good meal (a GOOD meal, not junk) and take a good nap. Give up your cares and worries for the day and just relax. Then look at your writing and say, “and then this happens…” =D It works for me atleast. Good luck!
