Reply from Michael Leibman /post/222108-kubuntu-installation-help-needed#reply-4542008 I haven’t used ubuntu much so I don’t know, I think “grub” is the default installed bootloading program. and I’m fairly sure kubuntu is almost the same but you might want to check their specific stuff (kubuntu forums.)

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/222108-kubuntu-installation-help-needed#reply-4542000 Both those programs are bootloaders. One of them is what displays the selection screen to choose what operating system will boot. Then it performs the actual booting of the linux system or passes off control to the window’s bootloader.

Just search the forums for “dual-boot windows freeze” and you’ll be on your way.

Reply from Michael Leibman /post/222108-kubuntu-installation-help-needed#reply-4541979 Then your best bet is searching the ubuntu forums … the only links I saw said thinks about reinstalling, or reinstalling grub/lilo but there may be a simpler way.

Reply from M. Wright /post/222108-kubuntu-installation-help-needed#reply-4541639 You have to download a cleaner. It’s not guaranteed to work. The registry might not be the issue, but I’d do it just in case. I recommend ccleaner. You can find its website as the first hit of an Internet search.

Reply from M. Wright /post/222108-kubuntu-installation-help-needed#reply-4541619 I’d probably uninstall, restart, clean up the registry, restart again, and reinstall.
