[Help] what can i include in my speech about legalizing hemp! Updates to this post /post/223899-what-can-i-include-in-my-speech-abo Fri, 04 Dec 2009 09:29:56 +0100 Reply from undeveloped /post/223899-what-can-i-include-in-my-speech-abo#reply-4561278 here is the intro and first body paragraph so far. can you tell me how it is? and i basically only need help figuring out what to say about it helping our economy, so if you could give me an example, that would be great.—

What would happen if we used alternative resourses to help benefit our environment and economy? Hemp is used in
todays society, but it isnt being used as much as it should be. Hemp is illegal to grow because people believe that
it is the same thing as marijuana, which it is not. Hemp contains a tiny amount of THC, which is the chemical in
marijuana that is the psychoactive ingredient which gets people “high.”Hemp does not have enough THC in it to do that.
Hemp is a different strain of Cannabis Sativa than marijuana.
Although hemp is illegal to grow, it is not illegal to possess.
The US government keeps it illegal to grow because it looks very similar to marijuana and difficult to distinguish the two from each other.
Companies such as cotton growers, oil producers, and other companies would not like the legalization of hemp because it could put
them out of business because they know how useful it is.

Since hemp is not illegal to have, if i could change the world, i would make hemp replace other resourses.
it can benefit our environment and our econonmy which in return would help save the world.

I am going to explain how the use of Hemp could help our environment as well as our economy.

-
Hemp can be used in many ways to help out our environment.

The hemp plant can produce more paper products per acre than trees. One acre of hemp is about the amount of four acres of trees.
It can also be recycled more times than paper from wood pulp.
Switching to hemp paper can save forests and wildlife by not having to cut down any trees. Trees can take as long as 20 years to fully grow.
hemp only takes 4 months to grow to be able to be used.
Paper made from hemp lasts for hundreds of years, rather than 25 to 80 years for paper made from trees.
Growing hemp is also alot easier because it uses very little water and it takes a shorter period to grow.
It can also help farmers keep the soil productive and avoid the use of pesticides and fertilizers.

Plastic products could also be made from hemp seed oil. plastics made from hemp are biodegradable!they will eventually break down and not harm the
environment. Oil-based plastics, which are the ones that we are familiar with, do not break down. Hemp products are safe to use and natural.

World hunger could also be reduced. A lot of food products can be made from hemp. The hemp seeds contain one of the highest sources of protein in
nature. Hemp seeds have two essential fatty acids that clean your body of cholesterol. These fatty acids are not found anywhere else in
nature!

Clothes should be made from hemp as well. Hemp clothing is strong and durable over time.there are American companies that do make hemp clothing;
its usually 50% hemp. Hemp material is very similar to fabric.

Reply from undeveloped /post/223899-what-can-i-include-in-my-speech-abo#reply-4560308 heres what im using for my first body paragraph. i am gunna edit it, but here it is.–

Hemp can be used in many ways to help out our environment.

The hemp plant can produce more paper products per acre than trees. It can also be recycled more times.
Hemp material is very similar to fabric. Hemp is being used to make clothing Switching to hemp can save our
forests and wildlife by not having to cut down any trees.

Farmers would be well advised to grow hemp as a rotation crop because it uses very little water and has a short
growing season. It could potentially help farmers keep the soil productive and avoid the use of pesticides
and fertilizers.

Plastic products should be made from hemp seed oil. Hemp made plastics are biodegradable! Over time, they would break down and not harm the environment.
Oil-based plastics, the ones that we are very familiar with, help ruin nature; they do not break down. Hemp products are safe and natural.

Medicines should be made from hemp. ‘Medical Marijuana’ is given out legally to
only a handful of people while the rest of us are forced into a system that relies on chemicals. Hemp is only healthy for the human body.

World hunger could be reduced. A lot of food products can be made from hemp. The hemp seeds contain one of the highest sources of protein in
nature. ALSO: They have two essential fatty acids that clean your body of cholesterol. These essential fatty acids are not found anywhere else in
nature! Consuming hemp seeds is the best thing you could do for your body.

Clothes should be made from hemp. Hemp clothing is extremely strong and durable over time. You could hand clothing, made from hemp, down to your
grandchildren. Today, there are American companies that make hemp clothing; usually 50% hemp. Hemp fabrics should be everywhere. Instead, they are
almost underground. Superior hemp products are not allowed to advertise on television.

Reply from Kuvri (yodaluv12) /post/223899-what-can-i-include-in-my-speech-abo#reply-4560238 hemp does contain a small amount of THC. another problem with growing it is that it looks like marijuana so it’d be easier to grow that as well.

Reply from thatredheadedgirl /post/223899-what-can-i-include-in-my-speech-abo#reply-4560156 It sounds all right to me. The opening question is good… it automatically gets the audience thinking. What I would do before introducing the hemp idea, though, is go into the problems with other things that are being implemented or the problems with the environment in general. It would definitely drive the point home.

Reply from thatredheadedgirl /post/223899-what-can-i-include-in-my-speech-abo#reply-4560134 You could say that the transesterification process used in extracting oils/fuel from biodegradable compounds such as soybeans, corn, etc. is far too costly to be of real benefit and argue that extracting the oil from hemp might be a more cost-effective way of helping the environment…
But idk, you’d have to back it up and that may be a stretch.
