Updates to this post /post/223945-okay-so-my-computer-is-having-a-mel Sun, 29 Nov 2009 00:42:41 +0100 Reply from ~Queen Of Kaos~ /post/223945-okay-so-my-computer-is-having-a-mel#reply-4593177 I have windows xp. Every time I get onto my internet, pop up adds come up. Then all of a sudden I couldn’t get onto my email or even onto help, I have fixed that portion of the problem so far, but I am still getting pop ups. I called customer service for xp but he just had me delete a whole bunch of junk but I still kept getting pop ups.
Sorry for such the late reply, for I havent been able to get on. Hence the computer problems

Reply from tjwoods /post/223945-okay-so-my-computer-is-having-a-mel#reply-4563068 The security software that people have mentioned above is very helpful. However, it also matter what operating system your computer is running. I assume you are running Windows of some kind (because you are having problems), but you haven’t said what kind. Depending on whether you have Windows XP, Vista, 2000, or some other, older version there might be other steps you can take to fix your situation.

Can you provide more information?

Reply from The Clue /post/223945-okay-so-my-computer-is-having-a-mel#reply-4561016 If your PC seems like its slowing down and having a hard time surfing the web or just doesn’t seem right. If you think that you have a virus or bug. You need to clean it out first to find out what’s causing the problems. Here’s a few programs that I use regularly and they take very little time and skill to run.
You should go to http://download.com and get these programs.
AD WARE AND SPY WARE REMOVERS:
AD-Aware: http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.htm…
Spybot search and destroy: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search…
CCleaner: http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000…
If you don’t have an Antivirus program you can use.
Avast: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Ed…
or AVG: http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Viru…
and for your firewall a good program is
Zone Alarm: http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Fir…
Install these programs and run them regularly. This will keep your system clean and running properly. These programs are free and Download.com is a part of CNET (the site that your posting on right now). Hope this helps :-)

Yeah if you keep it on, as is true with all similar software. You should uninstall after you’ve scanned.

Reply from Pocoloco /post/223945-okay-so-my-computer-is-having-a-mel#reply-4560527 Download & install spybot, run it and enable immunization and also run a scan. And then stop using IE forever.
