However it is probably a good thing in a round a bout way. It really should have been you, when you were ready.. Listen to what your counselor tells you and things will get easier eventually.

Great news for you. It’s not til you die. Ten years, less if you get good treatments for them.

Reply from hana-hime /post/224411-i-told-my-counselor-today-that-i8#reply-4566193 Try to keep yourself occupied … try to think of the times when you weren’t thinking about cutting.

Were you doing an acitivty? Do that activity.

Were you talking to your friends? Talk to your friends.

I had an addiction to cutting as well .. when I was younger, and I noticed that when I was at school and talking to my friends that not ONCE did cutting ever cross my mind. So I talked to my friends more and more and eventually my habit became not a daily thing .. but a weekly thing, then it went from weeks to months. And when I least expected it .. I had stopped completely.

It takes a lot of will power and a heck of a lot of time. There are times when temptation comes knocking at my door but I fight it. I still have the scars on my arms, but they were my motivation to stop.

I managed to stop, I know for a fact that you can too :)

Reply from Sans /post/224411-i-told-my-counselor-today-that-i8#reply-4565602 You don’t really need to do this. It’s a compulsion. And the people you told do care and will find out if you do it again.

Try to find something that gives you a similar feeling but isn’t harmful, like running or playing guitar. Both of those cause a sort of pain (your fret hand gets callouses with guitar) but are positive activities.

that is a good point a cutter is pretty easy to spot when you are aware of the problem. You don’t want to have to have the conversation about the scars with everyone you get close to in your life.

Thats my two cents good luck, remember were all here for you.

Reply from dyingtobethin1 /post/224411-i-told-my-counselor-today-that-i8#reply-4565544 No, I kinda exxagerated. Not everyone knows. In fact, only 4 ppl know. my mom, who barely knows the details, but doesn’t care much. three friends, who don’t really care about it ((and it’s just bc they don’t know what to do)) and my nurse, and my counslor, ok that’s more like 6. But not my dad or brother.
But my nurse looked at my legs, and kinda made sure that when I see her tomorrow, there will be no new cuts. I don’t know what to do. I’m so..
Idk.
but it’s so bad, Like I need to!
It’s all I can think about. Please.
