Reply from Darth Pianoman~~~ /post/231905-computer-problems-help#reply-4653156 cause I had a problem where the disk drive didn’t even show up, and I defragmented it, and the somputer saw it right after.

Reply from Darth Pianoman~~~ /post/231905-computer-problems-help#reply-4653155 have you tried starting in safe mode? you know, like when it looks for errors that need to be truncated, and sometimes gets rid of viruses? also, what about defragmenting?

Reply from Virtual Boy /post/231905-computer-problems-help#reply-4653014 By reinstalling Windows, I mean I had my comp boot from disc, and installed Vista… it would make my comp have to reboot, and it would just go right back and boot from CD… apparently forgetting that I just installed the **** thing 2 minutes ago!!!!! If when it restarts I take the disc out, it gives me the error message!

Reply from M. Wright /post/231905-computer-problems-help#reply-4653013 Oh. Well the laptop hard disk should be in some external enclosure on the bottom. It’s almost like the battery, except its screwed in. I probably wouldn’t recommend tinkering with it, then. I’m not sure what you mean though when you say you reinstalled Windows and it doesn’t work. Is it the same message about your disk?

Reply from Virtual Boy /post/231905-computer-problems-help#reply-4653009
I got the same message once, all though I didn’t have a dual boot system. I opened my computer up and applied gentle pressure on the cable ends connecting my hard disk and motherboard. That must have seated the cable better, because after I started up again, my hard disk worked.
but it still recognizes that the HD is connected and that there is data on it…
should I still try?
Also, I’m on a laptop
