Reply from Sans /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4995416 Don’t know how I missed this post the first time around.

My car is old. I don’t own my house, I rent. I am unemployed. I don’t get unemployment or other government benefits or a pension. I am 50 and finding out that my college degree and skill set are obsolete.

But I am happy.

My children are healthy and relatively well-adjusted. I’m healthy. I live near the beach, in a warm climate. I have a girlfriend. I have good friends, including many of you. I exercise. I use my mind. I try to let go of the past, and to find balance.

I am very imperfect, and okay with that. For now.

Although disillusioned and even disgusted with religion, I have hope that everything will work out, that there is a God (or will be as the Universe awakens).

Things will come and go. Health will diminish. Relationships, friendships will vanish, fade and sometimes reemerge or spring up like wildflowers.

When my body is dead and a feast for bacteria, some way, in some form (or formless), whether embedded in matter and energy or hidden in unknown an unknown dimension, I will exist, change, learn and grow. What you believe or don’t won’t stop me.

Until then, I’ll live now.

A stimulating conversation can put me into a condition that can only be described as joyful. If I ever feel sad or need an attitude adjustment, all I need to do is hold a baby in my arms for a few minutes. Hope and energy returns as if sent from Heaven. Am I intensely happy all the time? No, but I know what to do in order to achieve that feeling.

Reply from freemarleyjac /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4671946 Personally, I don’t get much satisfaction out of a prosperous life. What makes me excited to wake up alive is the joy of existing. Every moment that I really take in, kind of like right now, is perfect in every way, because when one finds themself as a little piece of the universe rather than a lonely observer, they can be satisfied, knowing that enlightenment was never out of reach.

Reply from Jenski /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4671213 I know I haven’t done half the things I want to yet, so in a sense i’m not fulfilled, but I am living my life to the fullest I can, often spreading myself too thin. At night time my mind buzzes with ideas I dont have time to give true credit too, but every time they pop up they grow. I’m just glad to be alive & even though my job is cleaning pub toilets and giving alcoholics more alcohol (I work in a pub, one of the jobs I never wanted to do) & I’m not fulfilling my potential, I’m just glad I have a job! Things take time thats one thing I’ve learnt, but in this day and age we expect everything to have arrived yesterday….patience, thats what I digging right now.

I’m Content!

Reply from berta /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4669227 I have taken life in many different views while the current one is the one I am holding on to. I am a true believer that if you are not happy then change it. I have been known to pick up and move 6 states away just to see if I would like it better.

I am a 31 yr old single mother of three kids-14,13,10. They between them all play 8-10 sports per year as well as other extracurricular activities due to the fact that I have instilled them with this thought process….

You only have one life to live so you wanna enjoy it. If something is not making you happy then change it. It is your life and only you can live it.

So people here have given you options to change it and you haven’t been exactly open to those, which it may not be your cup of tea, but it is still change. you won’t know what is going to fill your emptiness by not trying to fill it so you mind as well try something that you are interested in.

If you feel you are stuck in an everyday schedule then change it and add new things. Maybe you need to take some road trips, I take at least 2 vacations a year to places I have never been. This gives me enough travel to keep me content until my children are ready to be on thier own.

Reply from Fuzzy Pepper /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4669195 Oh….and I have two VERY GOOD friends, one who has been a friend since 3rd grade; and a few close friends; and a few acquaintences

I have hobbies. I scrapbook feverishly. I would love to ski, but there’s no time or money for it anymore. And now that I don’t live in the middle of the ski resorts, I would have to drive for an hour and a half to ski.

I have troubles and problems like everyone else, but long ago decided to enjoy them, to see them as challenges to overcome, and not to allow them to make me miserable.

Reply from Richard Cor de Lyon /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4669033 When we do not have a goal that we are passionate about, something to pull us forward, it is very easy to become resigned or bored. Passion is what moves us forward. So many of us live lives of reaction. We respond to the things and voices, the whims of those around us. Choose to be a person of action instead of reaction. Our choices (and we make hundred’s of choices every day) are those thing that pay into this issue. Action or reaction… Live a life by default, or by consciously aware choices. We so often go through a day on autopilot. Have you ever noticed how good if feels to drive a manual transmission car after months or years of driving an automatic?

I wake every day grateful for the day ahead… grateful the opportunities that are out there for me. I pray that I’m wise enough to see them, and brave enough to go for them. Do I suffer fear of the uncertain? Of course - everyone does to some extent. But when I go to bed at night, I’m grateful the day that unfolded for me. If I feel there could have been more I acknowledge that, and just tell myself tomorrow is another day, and that I can try again tomorrow.
Bright blessings ~ Richard

Reply from linuxya /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4668652 You don’t need intensity to feel good.

You need steady progress.

Take up running. I went from couch potato to running a half marathon in a year.

Take up biking. I biked to work and eventually did long trips with a great social group.

Travel. Explore new places, learn the language and culture.

Go to meetup.com.

Reply from Sasha101 /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4668640 I wouldn’t say my life is Intense more like contentment,I do wake up most days happy, because I wake up to a happy household, I quite often have, enlightning and sometimes in depth talks with complete strangers, I live in a town where most people are pretty sociable and of course the accent makes for conversation and questions lol.I think you are what you decide to be, you can be happy and have a positive outlook or you can let everyday misery get you down.

Reply from Grim_Hardcastle /post/233355-question-for-everybody#reply-4668622 This is a hard one to respond to. I don`t have it all. I sometimes wish i did but i know it would not make me a happy person. I wan`t to figure out what I can do for myself to make Me a better person. I guess we all can control our own state of mind. It is all about having the tools and the knowledge to do so.

I also think we all should think a little more about wich influence we have on the world. We could be seeds of hope and positivity or we could be the opposite.
