[Help] Spanish: how do you pronouce "hoy? Updates to this post /post/234193-spanish-how-do-you-pronouce-8220 Fri, 04 Dec 2009 19:12:39 +0100 Reply from ahmad.amm.j /post/234193-spanish-how-do-you-pronouce-8220#reply-5171452 i dont know, but some Spanish speakers pronounce ‘Y’ as J letter in english, and other pronounce it as ‘Y’ in english or ‘I’ in spanish.

my spanish teacher told us ‘Y’ is always pronounced as ‘J’ in english except if it comes in the end of the word so its pronounced as ‘Y’ in english.

its confusing!

Reply from thekingofkings1986 /post/234193-spanish-how-do-you-pronouce-8220#reply-4677945 yes the y sounds like j.
The H is silent in spanish, so you end up with ‘oy’
