[Help] I am having intense food cravings and don't know how to control them. Updates to this post /post/263508-i-am-having-intense-food-cravings-a Sat, 28 Nov 2009 23:29:17 +0100 Reply from gbfkj /post/263508-i-am-having-intense-food-cravings-a#reply-5179831 It sounds like you have a lot of anxiety tied up with food - this will only intensify cravings, and make you feel worse about something that could be a small obstacle or indulgence.
If you don’t want to see a counsellor about this, I would second the exercise (it often does reduce your appetite), friends (hopefully they will calm you), and water (can do both advice.

Reply from Sasha101 /post/263508-i-am-having-intense-food-cravings-a#reply-4929421 Try altering your intake of food, try to have five or six small healthy meals each day, eat breakfast as soon as you rise and try to eat every 3hrs or so. If your appetite is sated which it will be eating every three hours, you wont get hungry so often therefore you wont crave snacks or unhealthy foods.Make protein part of each meal if possible, chicken, egg whites, tuna etc..

Reply from ryanman /post/263508-i-am-having-intense-food-cravings-a#reply-4929387 Sadly all the old cliche advice people give is what usually works:

- Drink lots of water
- Exercise kills cravings
- A bored mind wants to eat
- It’s easier to eat alone

On a personal note, I have always found it’s easier to eat nothing at all than “a little healthy something”. Seems like a take a bite of anything and it just opens the floodgates. Wish I could be more help.

Reply from MarinMina716 /post/263508-i-am-having-intense-food-cravings-a#reply-4929382 there could be many problems: make sure you are not allergic to ANYTHING you are eating. some doctors claim eating food you are allergic to increases cravings.

personally i would not go with a watermelon or any fruit w/ high sugar. in some people, moderate- high levels of sugar increase cravings.

go low on sugar– try a green apple.

trick: lemon water reduces carvings. sweeten with fructose or stevia.
(i would say to avoid aspartame, which is also known to cause cravings)

another trick: increase vitamin C. known to reduce cravings. buy the capsules at your local health food store.
i said it before and i will say it again: fish oil capsules. take them. they are amazing for cravings, skin, concentration…etc

However, if you don’t have that good will power, I do know that if you eat an orange or apple when you start craving chocolate, sometimes it helps the craving go away… Sorry, don’t know that much. :)
