Reply from bics20 /post/270381-debt-is-crushing-me-and-my-wife-wh#reply-4978174 I don’t know if you are a christian or not. If not, ask Jesus to come into your heart. Read the bible every day. I am in a very similar position. I have always helped others. I still have some resources, but they are going away quickly. I beleive God has a plan for all of us. He is there and He desires that we draw closer to Him. I have been in a bad financial condition for several months and I have been praying daily that God will show me the way. HE WILL. Really get to no Jesus. “Trust him with all your heart. In all your ways egknowledge him, and he will make your path straight”. I know this is a aweful position to be in but you are not alone. I will pray for you my brother and I ask the same of you.

Reply from da Boss /post/270381-debt-is-crushing-me-and-my-wife-wh#reply-4976971 Sounds like you are still a young person if your wife is expecting your first child. You don’t say if you still have a Job
Here what I have done. I made a list of All the people I owe money to. Then looked at how much money I had or had coming in. REMEMBER first to pay all the rent, THIS IS A MUST. That way you will still have a roof over the family heads. and have a base to work or operate from. Then I went to every one of my creditors explained my situation and ask if they could defer payment for two or three months,if they say no,ask if you could pay part of the instalment. It does not matter if they say no. Then tell them you would like to return the goods. Make a note of exactly who you spoke to and confirm your request and all that was said in writing make sure you list the person name on the letter who you spoke to. Post the letters by Register post) This is proof that they would have received the letter. From this point the ball is in there court. No dealer/ supplier likes to have a load of second hand goods on his floor. (At this time the whole world is returning goods and you will not be the only one returning goods.) More than likely they will make some kind of a deal with you. For sure they would rather have a small payment than no payment at all. If they don’t and they sue you by having the letters you wrote will be proof that you had approch them requesting their assistance in the matter. This will stand you in good stead with the magistrate. Remember from this point on every discussion you have with a creditor must be confirmed in writing and copies of all letters kept as proof. Even if you can not make the lower instalment you must put it in writing. it is all about having the evidence that you have tried. If you need more info let me know.
Good luck
Regards
da Boss

Reply from The Clue /post/270381-debt-is-crushing-me-and-my-wife-wh#reply-4973900 Heres a suggestion learn how to budget your money. Times have been tough for a lot of us for a very long time but we still make through to the next day. Heres the main thing to remember you don’t need all of that junk that you owe money on, because they will take it all back. Don’t buy anything unless you can pay for it in cash, thats the hard one. You will be able to make it through tough times and be like the rest of us who don’t owe any money on our houses and have no credit card debt. Hope this helps :-)

Reply from guster32 /post/270381-debt-is-crushing-me-and-my-wife-wh#reply-4973785 Right on, Neutra-best advice I have heard in a long time and very true. Depends on where the family is as to what kind of resources are available. If you are in the States, again, The Salvation Army, Angel Food Network,Christian Services, unemployment if you were laid off. I know exactly what you mean about giving, but I cannot make myself quit giving because I care, so you must care too. It will come back to you-hang tough and start looking for aid in every place you can think of. Like Max says, “What’s your plan?” Gotta have one-we all do-plan A and B-the answers are out there, don’t give up

Reply from Neutra /post/270381-debt-is-crushing-me-and-my-wife-wh#reply-4973762 Honestly, the only thing I can think of is to keep doing what your doing, continue to help people. You don’t see any change right now, but all the good that you are doing is building up. Eventually it’s going to burst and all the built up goodness that was inside will come back to you, double of what you put in, that’s how life works. Let me be the one to say you are doing a good job, if no one else does. In this world every bit helps and just continue to make it the best you can and remember that sometimes it takes longer for some people to get the change then others but no one is more important then everyone else, so don’t loose hope as it’s still there.
