[Help] The perfect storm of problems... Updates to this post /post/276010-the-perfect-storm-of-problems8230 Fri, 04 Dec 2009 02:23:45 +0100 Reply from da Boss /post/276010-the-perfect-storm-of-problems8230#reply-5011983 Wrong I have worked in many places overseas. People leave South Africa by the hundreds on a daily bases and go to the U K, and other places allover the world In fact many are families with young children leave South Africa where the exchange rate is something like 14 Rand to one British Pound. In order for them to survive and provide for there kids they take jobs far below what they are qualified to do. They realize that needs must come first. I personally know of three families that have found work in the UK in the last couple of months. After you have sold up your home and other worldly goods, your back is against the wall and so they just do what has to be done and that is get a job. Stop moaning. Just because you are an American does not mean that the world or the Brits owes you a job. I suggest you FIND ONE
Kindest Regards
da Boss

Reply from Anonymous /post/276010-the-perfect-storm-of-problems8230#reply-5011774 Wow…Why someone such as yourself is on a Help forum I cannot imagine…
I’m thinking you’ve never lived outside the U.S., much less worked internationally.
I applied for roughly 100 jobs, down to home based data entry, and had not ONE interview. THere are plenty of Americans here in the same boat, who cannot even get cashier jobs.
There are not enough jobs for the Brits, so an American applying is shot out of the water.
Shame on you. Certainly hope karma exists for such as yourself.
[quote da Boss]Not sure you will like my reply. You sound like a real lazy 44year old. How on this earth can you be unemployed for three years? If you ask me your husband is well shot of you. You say you tried all your so called connections to find employment The way I see it you are just leaning on friends, looking for a hand out. Your first love did the right thing staying away from you, who in his right mind would want to team up with a loser. You really need to jerk yourself out of the rut that you have got yourself into. Take the first job you can get no matter what it is even if it is cleaning toilets. try and become normal again and get some self pride in yourself again
Good Luck
regards

Reply from Miss Jessica Bunny /post/276010-the-perfect-storm-of-problems8230#reply-5011696 I don’t know, you should be able to find out at your local library.

The address has no CAB at the end btw, I put arrows and then CAB but the site removed the arrows

Reply from crafte /post/276010-the-perfect-storm-of-problems8230#reply-5011667 Usually I don’t have a problem to just “judge”, but in your case I really have no idea what it must be like to hit rock bottom. But when you’re at the bottom, the only place left to go is up, right?
Surely there must be something worth fighting and living for. Besides some days are worse than others. Things might seem hopeless today, but when you sleep on it, you might come up with a plan.

Reply from Miss Jessica Bunny /post/276010-the-perfect-storm-of-problems8230#reply-5011664 As far as your financial situation goes, contact your local citizens advice bureau, they are fantastic. Honestly, anything to do with debt they are kick-***. I’m sorry to hear about your job situation, but as you know its the same everywhere in the UK now, the only thing you might try is temping? I’ve done it and its quick money and easy. People always need temps, a specifically admin adecco was what I used, try it!
