As to being afraid of sounding stupid when asking a question of a doctor: when it comes to our health, there are no stupid questions. Doctors are well prepared for the fact that patients need to be educated and there’s no question that they consider stupid or are unwilling to answer. Ask away - that’s what they’re there for!
