It is up to the individuals to decied where the responsibility really lies and find a solution to make things better or not go down that road again. Most of your strength may be depleted by unecessary blame or guilt. Have you been talking to a counselor?

Sounds like deep down you want a healthy and happy concscience. Question are you blaming yourself or feeling guilty about something. If you can figure out what it may be you may be able to find closer on a permanent level - reducing the likely hood of relapse.
