[Help] People think I'm crazy, warpped, a player, homosexual, too nice. Updates to this post /post/285707-people-think-im-crazy-warpp Wed, 25 Nov 2009 17:23:26 +0100 Reply from Goldenheart /post/285707-people-think-im-crazy-warpp#reply-5077864 yet some people tell me that being too nice is to much. And I smile to everyone, but I do sometime not smile, cuz I want to see if any one would care for others.

That means they are just too mean to realize how smart you are.

Reply from linuxya /post/285707-people-think-im-crazy-warpp#reply-5074411 If you want to enjoy the benefits of social interaction, it’s helpful to understand what people expect and what works at a primitive instinctive level.

The book “How to start a conversation and make friends” by Don Gabor is helpful here.

It basically boils down to: understand that everyone is insecure; they will interpret your facial expressions and the way you interact with them personally… they are trying to decide whether you are a threat (ie. whether you are friendly and approachable or not). If you smile, introduce yourself, chat with them about their interests, share you own opinions in a gentle way, don’t take yourself seriously, then you’ll hit it off.

People will interpret a grumpy look or serious look on your face to mean you don’t like THEM or think THEY are stupid. Yeah, I know. But it’s true.
