[Help] I have Sony VAIO VGN-NR180E laptop which install vista. Updates to this post /post/289947-i-have-sony-vaio-vgn-nr180e-laptop Tue, 24 Nov 2009 20:18:05 +0100 Reply from Man1688 /post/289947-i-have-sony-vaio-vgn-nr180e-laptop#reply-5109177 Thank you for you replying again. I tried to contact Sony company. They provide driver for that model laptop for both of xp and vista. And they told me they sure they can do it, but because this is downgrading system, i need to buy the oem xp disc from them to make sure i install the original xp in that laptop, plus they need to charge me for service charge plus shipping. So, i think that model should be compatible to install windows xp pro. Also, on Sony.com they also list the minimum requirement to install xp is Pro with Sp2 or Sp3. In this case, i am sure that model of laptop is able to install xp pro with sp2, I just dont’ know what is the trick in this case.

I already checked my BIOS, i dont’ see the option to change from SATA to IDE compatibility. Also, i tried to install Windows XP Pro with SP2. I guess Sony lock something on the motherboard, that’s why i can’t continue to install my xp. Please let me know if you have more idea. Thank you very much.

if it pre service pack 2 it might not like the motherboard
