S. /post/291204-help#reply-5111696 Dr. Ralph, just a note- My mom has chronic headaches/migraines… and even the prescriptions barely work. It takes a combination of 3 drugs- just so they aren’t debilitating all the time. She still, ALWAYS has a mild headache, even with the drugs. Regular pain relievers do nothing.

This is a rare case, but my mom will always be a person who needs insurance. Also, she gets her money’s worth EVERY month. So don’t assume the situation.

Reply from Dr. Ralph /post/291204-help#reply-5111616 Medication for migranes? Excedrin is available OTC… A cavity costs about $200 to fill, that’s cheaper than insurance. If you can’t afford insurance you can’t afford health care. The idea behind insurance is so you can pay every month your entire life and then when you are 65 you can get open heart surgery and you will have paid for it in small increments. Insurance companies like to make money too…

Reply from flamingros /post/291204-help#reply-5111508 She’s not sick, and she doesn’t normally get sick. But she has migraines and needs medication, and if that doesn’t work, she had to go in to get a MRI. And she doesn’t have the funds to pay for all of it. Also, she needs a cavity filled. So, currently, she’s not sick, but she does have need of insurance.

Reply from Dr. Ralph /post/291204-help#reply-5111503 Is she sick? Surely she can wait until she graduates to get insurance… plus if you don’t own anything health care is free. You just go to the emergency room and they send you a bill which you throw away. It’s only people who own houses and have savings that have to worry about insurance. She has nothing to lose.
