[Help] Life on Mars? Updates to this post /post/291462-life-on-mars Wed, 25 Nov 2009 19:10:12 +0100 Reply from Xeno Dragon /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5114669 My favorite writer’s quote of all time: The tough thing about writing fiction is that fiction has to make sense, or the reader won’t believe it. As the writer, it’s YOUR job to show the reader why and how this could happen. Reality, on the other hand, can do whatever it wants, and it’s OUR job to figure it out.

could be just a wishful thinking that there is something more to this existence, that there is some mystery to be revealed, wonders to observe…

fact is, life is more fantastic than any fantasy, if you just open your eyes.

Reply from Xeno Dragon /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5114480 Feeling come from hormones, pheromones, and other chemicals in the body.

If we’re the weakest, it would sort of explain why we’re so violent.

Reply from Xeno Dragon /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5114464 I think there’s life out there somewhere. It’s statistically impossible that we’re the only life in this infinite universe. We can see hundreds of trillions of galaxies, each with trillions of stars. If I had to guess, I would bet my life that there is something else out there.

I just don’t think they’ve ever been here, and I don’t think we’re going to know anything about any of them anytime soon.

Reply from Miss Jessica Bunny /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5113840 I’m quite disappointed, I thought this thread was going to be about the TV Series ‘Life on Mars’ or the Bowie song…

So my contribution is this

Reply from grbghp /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5113749 on a logical point of view - there may be, but they are probably so different that you wouldn’t notice they are sentient, high chances of it being primitive life forms too, not to speak of technology and such. and most probably, if we find lives on other planets, they would be so far away that you would be extinct before you could reach them. if the planet has not already gone kaboom millions of years ago and its just it’s light that we see.

on a conspiracy point of view - other life forms have found us long long ago, whomever knows about it keeps it secret to prevent a global war on the alien’s favor.
they used to make lots of spectacles and buzz, until gradually they managed to blend in our society - thus becoming invisible.
they might as well not be from another planet though, but rather from the future, or the very far past - from when humans first arrived to earth or from when we had much more technology that was lost over the years back to the stone age…

on a theological point of view - well, it would be arrogant of me to write about that. to each his own.

Reply from NoGifts /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5113737 No evidence for living organisms on Mars has been found. Check out the NASA website. http://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstude…

Reply from Anonymous /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5113732 well mars has “life” on it… like living organisms, storms, whatever, but not “intelligent life”.
but who knows what’s in other galaxies, universes, vortexes, dimensions…

Reply from NoGifts /post/291462-life-on-mars#reply-5113731 I think it would be much odder if this planet were the only place that had life of all the infinite number of planets out there. That seems much more unlikely, so I’d guess there is life of some sort in a number of places. We might not recognize it, though, because our idea of life is limited to the kinds of life that we are familiar with.
