One of my friends killed himself a few years ago. Afterward I didn’t know what to do. I got into cutting and self-harm and a few suicide attempts as well. I wasn’t thinking of anything other then how much I was hurting. But then I started thinking about him more and realized that I shouldn’t be doing this. He wouldn’t have wanted me to waste away just because he wasn’t there anymore. I thought about how he’d want me to live. He’d want me happy even though he couldn’t me.

I want you to know that things will get better. I’m not telling you to forget him, block him out. Grieve his death, but not forever. You’ll have to get up and start living your life again. He wouldn’t want you to waste away to nothing.

It’ll be okay. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, or even a month from now. But one day, it’ll be okay. You’ll make it.

This just tugs at anyone’s heart why a person decides to take their own lives.

You shouldn’t even consider taking yours. It will solve nothing. You could do things to help honor your friends life by joining a group that deals with suicide. Perhaps your words and your story about your friend will change someone else’s mind that is considering suicide.

I don’t think your friend, would have wanted you to do yourself in because he/she was extremely unhappy. Often times they just can’t see any out of their situation and decide that the extreme of doing oneself in is best.

The world does have good people in it, people who are willing to help. Please stay with us, we do care.
