[Help] Here are the seven principles of Kwanza. Will research it more later. However at first glance some of these principles present a problem for me…

1. The unity of family and community sound good, however the unity of nation and race sound dangerous. Nationalism was part of what triggered the world wars and I’m sure it fuels many conflicts to this day. The beleif in race and unity of race sounds like something that will lead to racism. Race is a social construction and racism is wrong even if your black.

2. Self Determination. OK for the people of Africa this is a positive thing as they need more sovereignty in order to improve their condition, however the focus on the self can be turned into a negative egoism, especially after the necessary level of sovereignty has been acheived. For an example of this just look at the problems caused by the U.S.A. and capitalism.

3. Faith: A certain level of trust and faith is necessary for good government. There are some positive meanings for the word faith but one negative that should be looked out for is this: “belief that is not based on proof.” - Dictionary.com
