[Help] how to get approved for a car loan with no credit or semi bad credit? Updates to this post /post/5114-how-to-get-approved-for-a-car-loan Sat, 07 Nov 2009 22:45:59 +0100 Reply from checkmyskil /post/5114-how-to-get-approved-for-a-car-loan#reply-3772360 I must be having unique trouble. I don’t have much credit and to add to that Capital One screwed me on fraudulent charges. I had to pay 900 dollars off and had 2 months of overlimits fees. Other than that I have had a phone and cell phone for over 2 years never missing a payment. I have had the same job for over a year and the one before that 2 years. Insult to injury I have 2000 dollars for a down payment and I am still being turned down. Oh and I have no family members that can co sign. So I don’t know what to do. I’m not buying another 5+ year old car that I have to dump money into. Any advice besides save more? I’m sure trying multiple banks etc only lowers my credit score so this also works against me. Can’t a working man get a break?

Stop advertising lenders and big business, credit is a scam, its stupid, get some cash, buy a bike and shut up.

Reply from Grateful /post/5114-how-to-get-approved-for-a-car-loan#reply-230269 No credit won’t really stop you as long as you have about 500 or more to put down. Semi bad credit can hurt you a little. Another thing you should consider is going to the lot and finding a “last year” model. See if they have any with a good size rebate. This usually only works at a new car lot. Use the rebate as the down payment. I have horrible credit and drive a 2006 Chevy Silverado. I also bought my wife a brand new car last year. My payment is lower than it was on the last used kia that I bought through in house financing with a $2000 down payment.

Reply from C.M.Theisen /post/5114-how-to-get-approved-for-a-car-loan#reply-75848 That’s some good advice about saving. And if you need help with setting budget that lets you save, go find a credit counselor. They often help with designing a personal budget as well as advise you on fixing your credit history. It sounds like it could really be worth for you.

if a bank sees that you are capable of saving they should have no problem lending you money.

able to save = able to repay !
