[Help] how has Information Technology helped us to maintain global peace? Updates to this post /post/85929-how-has-information-technology-help Fri, 27 Nov 2009 04:58:11 +0100 Reply from Rosanbo /post/85929-how-has-information-technology-help#reply-2991721 Well IT has helped in the reporting of global events, and this may have helped to stop some attrocities from happening before they got too out of hand. But I can’t really think of any successful examples.

But I have to agree with gimli, what global peace are we talking about? There is suffering and murder/genocide happening on a massive scale throughout the world in many cases it is just unreported (Congo for example where 1200 people die every day) Half of them are children (as if that matters - but people for some reason tend to think of women and children as somehow special cases - something I don’t subscribe to).

Reply from Vergilius /post/85929-how-has-information-technology-help#reply-2991706 There isn’t any global peace, its just that there aren’t any wars in technologically develloped countries. And I don’t think it is information technology that keeps the wars away.
