You’re doing good to recognize that same routine has become monotonous. It is perfectly natural for your motivations to change. Asking yourself to enjoy a predictive routine is no less than being a grumpy-stubborn-old-fart set his his/her ways. You obviously enjoy the fresh feeling of a new day and need something to keep you looking forward.

When I found myself in the same doldrums as you, I picked up a lot of new things. I didn’t expect to enjoy them, I expected find out if they were my thing. I promised myself to do something new and give it full opportunity to become a hobby and interest. If an activity turned out to be lame, I ditched it and moved on. Five years later I know I enjoy golf, skydiving, camping, learning music (piano), swimming, running, dating, and traveling. Each of these activities lead me to new people and new experiences which improved either a physical skill or a social skill but were mentally engaging nonetheless. Extremely engaging, I should say. Try something. When you know it’s not your thing, move on to something else. No harm, no foul. It’s the movement in any direction that you seek. Your interests and personality will guide you.

You’re on a good path. Perhaps you’re not really looking to set your life straight.. perhaps it’s the meandering that keeps your mind thinking and your spirits soaring. Best Wishes. -L

Don’t measure your achievements by your friends’ status. When you find the right man/woman, you’ll have a great marriage. still, be aware that marriage does not mean you don’t get lonely. Come to peace with enjoying yourself. This is important whether you get married.

Sweet! I don’t know about your campus, but when I went to school, we had Emergency book loans. They’d pay for the books, but then you pay some incredibly stupid rate for that loan. My last 3 semesters in undergrad, I didn’t buy any books. Instead I found that the student library had copies in “reserves” (can’t check out but can use in library) and I used that. FOr Grad school, I looked for everything on ebay and other online textbook depots. Good Luck!
