i beat gyigas yesterday with some friends who were newer to the series.
then i showed them all of the places and stuff to do, and we spent an hour trying to fight hippies, we were too strong so we just kept auto winning :(
I may just start again anyways.
also I am back home for a week so I have aim back and such
So I finished the first GPP1 last night. I decided to go with some sort of theme. I named my characters Oran (Orange), Nana (Banana), Mint, and Peach. The dog’s name is Mango, favorite food is Fruit, and PSI power is Sitrus :] I figured “Mint” was an appropriate name for Jeff since he doesn’t have PSI.
I’m not sure exactly when, but I really don’t feel like waiting anymore. I’m going to start my playthrough tomorrow :] I just finished the DKC series this week so I’ll have much time.
I’m not quite sure by what you’re asking, but do you want to start from the very beginning today? We could use GPP1 from both links. And if you’re going to do any challenges then say so. :]
Well okay that sounds good. Any start time in mind or just “OMGWTFBBQNAO”?
Are we to wait or are we going ahead first like we originally said?
My current file has me in the tendas village thingy, but I have more slots still.
Typically one would just play through one game play point per day. The SM.net moderator would post on the mainsite every day with a new game play point. We have access to the archived game play points which I sent a couple shouts back, which we could use. We just need to set a Day 1 and then continue on. If I remember correctly, it started on a Thursday in 2004. Every Friday with the exception of the first one is used as a ‘catch up’ day. Any more questions? :D
Hey my dad actually managed to figure out which cords I need for my SNES and brought it out for me today. (last time he brought the n64 power and the wii’s av)
so I’m good to start. How’s this work exactly? I never was around to do it last time
Sweet, okay so if it doesn’t start by the time you get you get your SNES back, then we should begin :] The EBFGP on the new site only goes up to the Starman DX, but I dug up the one on the old site which is complete.
okay, do i just make a regualr account on aim or is there a chat one?
I was signing up for one when i lost connection and lost the page, now the new one i keep finding looks different.
give me a second here XD
haha, you know, you are the fourth person this week to ask me.
I’ll get it tomorrow I suppose, I should be sleeping right now, as I am leaving ASAP to Wisconsin on the morrow.
I’ll get it, and give you my user name thingy as soon as I can, It will probably be alphaknight or sitnalta if those aren’t gone.
..you know what? I put things off to often, downloading now XD
Unfortunately I have seen neither the actual box nor the guide :[ I consider plot and music to be incredibly significant in my perception of a game. I have Earthbound’s entire OST on my MP3 player :] And I do love walking around and talking to every NPC in the game.
Hm. It would be much easier to talk through AIM. Do you use it, by any chance?
yea :( the youth these days kind of makes me sad.
one of them asked me right away where to buy the guns, I told him you have to wait for Jeff. He was… disappointed.
I remember very clearly seeing it at a rental store when I was about five, that huge freaking box, but I had no SNES so I just passed it up and went over to the play station or something.
I really mostly loved the plot, the things the characters said and the music.
I too am waiting for EBFGP before I start up the file I was planning on starting to show my younger friends about the game during this summer.
I almost started it without starmen, but I remembered last second :)
I see..being eighteen, I do recall playing Earthbound at an incredibly early age, possibly six years old. Lately, I have been craving to replay it for the millionth time, but I’m waiting for Starmen.net’s EBFGP to start. Besides my cousin, I don’t know anyone else IRL that has even played it, let alone like it.
Many people aren’t able to appreciate the true value of the quirkiness the game holds. Generally speaking, the modern gamer will focus on graphics and violence, and have a relatively short attention span. Meh. It is your friends’ loss.
sadly, no one else in my general area seems to be able to hold interest in the series.
three friends gave up before Threed, one wrote a rant about exploding trees and never played again.
hmm. well I, being 17, would have been around 4 upon Earthbound’s release. So it wasn’t untill smash bros came around that I found EarthBound.
I spent a couple years watching videos and reading wikis, which also lead me to starmen.net, then I discovered emulation.
I tried beating earthbound, but failed and gave up for several years untill I heard about Lucas in brawl, so I went back and tried again and beat it.
then I amassed money in whatever ways possible at that age (which was a very limited list), and bought myself a copy on eBay, which I am currently at the lost underworld in.
So I am not a huge old fan of it, but I feel playing it three times and buying copies of its sequel in Japanese allows me to not feel like such a new fan.
thanks for telling me about it.
My older cousin introduced me to Earthbound. She never got very far in it, so we teamed up and beat the game. When we lived together I borrowed it all the time and eventually finished it on my own. Then I found Starmen.net around 2002, where in my lurking I discovered Mother 1. The rest is history.
hey, I wanted to ask you earlier how you found to the mother series, but then I forgot and went off trying to get rosetta to work cause i am out of CD Rs, so any ways I’m asking now before I forget.
how did you find the mother series?
hm. not sure, i haven’t had the experience to toy with rosetta stone yet. i plan to learn french over the summer using ‘rosetta stone’ and ‘tell me more’. if you haven’t already, you might want to check the comments on the page of the torrent you downloaded. they might provide information about how to get it working.
I have winrar, and I extracted the lessons its just that, Rosetta is asking for me to put in a lesson disc to install.
maybe I’m supposed to put the lesson files in a part of the main Rosetta folders
im sorry to bug you about it all again, but what do i do with ISO files? burn them to disc? i have rosetta cracked and everything, just need to get the language files working
never dealt with them before -_-
