  Tell her that you are concerned for her safety, and ask her if she can make just one phone call for you. Give her the phone number 1-800-931-2237. It is a help hotline for the National Eating Disorders Association, and a qualified professional on the subject might be able to get through to her.

  Wow. I am going to post a blog about this on my news blog…I looked up the landlord/tenant law for Texas, and in fact, they are able to give you only 3 days notice by law before filing suit. That is TERRIBLE. Here in Ohio, they are required to give you 30 days’ notice.
  
  You may have a little bit of time, though:
  
  3 days from notice to vacate to filing of suit
  8-10 days to serve the citation- The law requires the defendant have six days notice before the hearing.
  5 days to appeal the suit following the hearing required by law.
  2 days- The Constable is required by law to post a 24 hour vacate notice on the Writ of Possession
  20-23 days is the minimum amount of time to evict someone in any County in Texas. It must also be noted that any eviction suit is subject to appeal to the County Courts-at-Law.
  
  I am not a lawyer, but I would suggest filing an appeal. Explain to the judge that your roommate bailed with no notice, and that you will be able to come up with the funds in X amount of days. If nothing else, this will buy you time until you can make the rent payment.
