  Popularity does not make the person, because in reality people don’t look close enough to where one’s heart stands, they only look to the outward appearance of people. First , he needs to want to change not just for you, but for himself. And, if he is shrugging off what you have to say to him when you are telling him about himself then at this point it sounds as if he does not care, and he will continue to be this way until he realizes that there is more to life than a big party. And b/c I know that when people are doing drugs and drinking they do not want to face the fact that they are screwing up there lives. So, if you really care about this person what I would suggest is to take the things he values most other than the drinking and drugs and try and get him involved with that more and maybe this will help him see that he is better off. If this does not work - I would recommend that you leave him be and try and not get caught up in what he is doing yourself.

  I don’t think that you are being unreasonable. She needs to take a look at what she wants, and if it is you, then she should have no problem with letting you go along, b/c if she has nothing to hide then there should be no problem.

  Dear Confused,
  If he is married try and respect that. If the shoe was on the other foot and you where his wife would you want someone doing that to you, even though nothing has happed yet. Maybe you should talk to him and let him know that you respect the fact that he has a family, but you are receiving mixed emotions and that you are concerned that something might happen that you will both regret. And it sounds as if you are a part of that family already look to him as a older brother and remain friends. There is someone out there for you, it is just not him, plus you still have your whole life ahead of you, the right man will come along.

  Dear Hurt,
  I believe that their is a reason for everything that happens in our lives. It sounds as if you keep in contact with your ex, and if you do, has your relationship with this person been friendly or do you despise this person? Also, if you do stay in contact have you both sat down and actually talk about the break up and the cause for what has happened? You mentioned that he has betrayed you in the worst way, has he ever told you why he has done this, or his reasoning behind his actions? Sometimes talking things over and actually listening to what the other person has to say - might bring on an ice breaker into the situation, also have you ever offered forgiveness and has he ever asked for it? How does he feel about you now? And even though he might make it look as if he is doing alright, there is a possibility that he is using these other people to get over what he has done to you so that he does not have to face the situation. The only other way to get over someone is to leave them totally alone and make your own future, if he Loves you still after you totally leave him alone - if it was meant to be and forgiveness is ask for then he will be looking to come back to you - if not at least focus on yourself, and you will start to see in a different light. The reason for my understanding what you are sort of going through is that my man of 7 years has left me and he has been gone for over 6 months now and I still Love him and we are still friends. We talked about why he had left and I totally understand his reasoning, but b/c he left I have started to change my ways. Neither one of us cheated we just could not handle each others attitudes and drama. He was always angry and I always allowed my family drama in among other things. So- Take your time - take a deep look at what you want in life and go from there. Ask yourself is he what you want? Are you both willing to forgive and move forward together, or do you think that things will ever change? I know it is hard and I will keep you in our prayers so that you might find what you are really looking for and what direction you want your life to head in. Take Care - Tanya
