  Let’s go over the facts:
  
  He cheated on you.
  He calls you names and badmouths you.
  He treats you badly.
  
  
  So…why are you still with him?
  
  Please don’t reply with, “my friends are busy so I can’t break up with him because I won’t have anyone to comfort me.” That’s just silly and one extremely lame excuse. I’m sorry to be so maverick about this, but come on, girl. Stand up for yourself. Be the strong woman you ought to be instead of the lapdog girlfriend.
  
  The fact is that you shouldn’t need anyone to comfort you when you make the right decision. You ought to realize that you are being mature, and you are making the best decision for YOU (not for him. We’re not thinking about him and his part in your life anymore, are we? P.S. That was a rhetorical question).
  
  You are in love…I understand that. But recently coming out of an abusing relationship that sounds very much like yours has taught me a few things, so listen up. If you ever feel that you are being mistreated by your man, bring it up TO YOUR GUY (not just to your friends) and do NOT quiet down until the issue is solved. If he is unwilling to cater to you, say you will leave and actually DO IT. Back up what you say. He will respect you more and realize that he had a real woman in his hands, but he didn’t and still doesn’t deserve you…so don’t go back to him. Ever. No matter what he says or does. Be true to yourself and keep looking for the man who really does deserve you, who really does care for you, and who really will do everything and anything he can to make you happy.
  
  Also remember that a relationship breaks up because something is broken. If that something isn’t fixed, that relationship will never work, no matter how many times someone says “I love you” or tries to force it. Your relationship seems to be a one-way street, and that obviously hurts you….so go seek a two-way relationship with someone else.

  As the old cliche goes, “the right choice is usually the more difficult one.” I full-heartedly believe you made the right decision in standing up for yourself and for what you believe in, but I understand why you seem to be having a difficult time now. It’s hard to walk away from something you’ve devoted time to, which (in this case) is the friendship and relationship you had with this boy. You used to be in the loop with this guy…you had exclusivity, which every person craves at one time or another. Now that you don’t have that, you miss it….but do you honestly need it?
  
  I don’t think you do. You have a good head on your shoulders, and you know what’s right for you. So, do you think it’s right to try to be friends with a guy who has proven himself to be toxic and unwilling to change? Do you think it’s right and healthy to pursue a friendship or relationship with someone who clearly doesn’t care about others since he doesn’t care for himself?
  
  So what if he’s popular? High school kids generally have the wrong idea about popularity anyway. If someone goes away for a summer and has a makeover to become “hot,” the school kids make a huge fuss over it…that’s pretty superficial. I guess what I’m saying is you need to remember that high school is only temporary and it is a very shallow environment. You shouldn’t make the decisions you know aren’t right. Watch out for yourself and have a good time…but be healthy and mature about it.
