Firstly, I said maybe. Read my posts before dumping on them.

Secondly, I did not say anything about the level of her education but maybe she doesn’t know so much if she thinks help.com is the place to cut and paste stuff from other sites with additional comment or question.

There is more to English than just words, there is conventions and culture maybe the responses on here will help her with those.

Personally I think sexuality is more like a scale than a black or white issue. It’s more like everyone is more or less bi but might just prefer men or women. Like if you have 10 partners 8 might be men and 2 women, someone else might prefer it the other way round.
What is disgusting about it? Or is that what ’society’ says?

I _so_ disagree with you Xeno, as I think you know I’m 33, I consider a bit old to be ‘emo’, I don’t dress ‘emo’ or listen to ‘emo’ music*, I’m so out of touch with new music I doubt I’d know any if I heard it. However on here when people can’t see me I get labelled emo because of my attitude and beliefs, well which came first? I found this site because I was suicidal and wanted help, to have someone reach out, I stay here ‘cos I’m bi-polar like a good rant and laugh sometimes too, and I have broken sleep so can drop in any time. In the small village where I live no-one is gonna want me popping by at 5am for a cup of tea and a natter but that is just what I can do here at helpdotcom.
But back to emos, as you recognised before emo there were goths before goths there were freaks and before freaks there was cod knows what, kids always wanna be the member of a ‘tribe’, some fashion or other, I get the impression this is worse in the US school system, maybe because you don’t have school uniform? So kids make their own uniform, only this is far more based on income and family influences, if you get rejected by the clique you want to join you have to try another.
Have you seen the film The Heathers Xeno? This is nothing new.
*although I did have my goth moments when I was younger and listen to The Cure

AND………… no-one cuts to be cool, not more than once anyway, it hurts too much!!! If you are worried about someone self-harming try talking to them. Without shouting and blaming, without saying their stupid or that its a stupid way to deal with problems, they know all this already. For better advice on how to approach and help a self-harmer I’m sure there’s plenty or sites about and you can Google as well as me.

People with low self esteem find it hard to take a compliment. They see no value in themselves so think others who do must be stupid or wrong or lying.
