  It wouldn’t be fair to try and tempt her to drink, or drink excessively in her presence, respect her decision, but she must respect yours.

  It is totally inappropriate for him to say anything like that to you. Confide in a teacher you trust and explain exactly what he said, when and where. Do not lie or exaggerate, but do not leave anything out. Being absolutely truthful will be important if he tries to make out you were lying or confused. You do not deserve to have to deal with this and you’ll feel much better after speaking up about it.
  
  It may have only been a conversation but the more these kinda guys see they can get away with it the more likely they are to continue, or go further.

  That sucks. You are so much better than this guy and I hope next time you get attracted to a nicer guy! (Though I’m also guilty of fancying b**tards)
  
  Ignore the rumours, and rise above them. Hard to do but there will be people who will really respect you for that. Keep your head high and your words kind and you will shake off these rumours.

  I think the best way to let go of guilt and unhappiness is to do as much as you can for other people. Seeing other people happy or better off as a result of your words/action is the best therapy there is. You made a big mistake and I’m sure you’ve learned from it in the hardest possible way. However you are not a worthless, useless person, there’s so much good you can do in the rest of you life.
  
  Perhaps campaign against drink driving, share your experiences with others so they realise how dangerous it is? Preventing others from repeating your mistake would be a fitting tribute to the friend you lost.

  Yeah, you’re right, I’m not sure I can resist taking it further. I think that he has more experience, wisdom etc is what attracts me too him. I’ve dated younger guys but it’s always the older, confident guys that really get to me. That I’ve actually managed to find a single one that likes me too seems like a miracle.
