  He seems to be rather socially inept. Don’t encourage his behavior with small talk. Tell him how it is. It will hurt his feelings, but hopefully it will also tell him the hard way that his behavior is inappropriate and he needs to spend his time pursuing someone else.

  Everybody gets the piss taken out of them. That’s life. Trust me, the same people having a go at you have other people having a go at them, too. The important thing is learning how to roll with the punches. Next time they try to make fun of you, laugh with them. Their words might still sting, but the fact that you’re laughing along with them leaves them without any ammo and ends up making them looking foolish.
  
  I used to get made fun of all the time, but then I started doing this very thing. Eventually I even made a few new friends. (And just so you know, I was pole thin and a punker brat; not exactly the same thing, but definitely in the same playing field.)
  
  No matter what, don’t let it get you down. The best way to fight this is by not doing anything at all. These types are only looking for a reaction. The angrier you get, the harder they laugh. When you take away their fire, they soon realize that they’ve got nothing.

  You know, the proper definition of the word ‘incredible’ means to be ‘without credibility’ don’t you? That being said, it all sounds pretty incredible to me.

  Well, as I was pretty inconsistent with my workout, it took me a good one-and-a-half months before I saw anything drastic, but if you stick with it and make sure you do plenty of cardio in between (run one day, work your abs the next), then you should start seeing something going on after the first three or four weeks.
  
  Remember, though, that every body is different. Depending on numerous factors (such as your current body weight, body fat percentage, diet, and other things), it could take longer or faster to see any results. Just remember, though, that the way you look and seeing results is only a by-product of what you’re doing. You will look good, especially if you stick with it, but what’s more important is that you’re healthy. Don’t worry so much about outward appearances; you’re not a bodybuilder! Just keep going at it and remember that your body is thanking you for it.

  Alas there is no quick-fix cure for this. All you have to do is trudge through it, really.

  Don’t talk about old. I’m twenty-two and all my friends are married and two of the couples have kids and I’m about to graduate from university and go on to Master’s studies and the real world. And I’m still just a kid.
  
  Also, don’t scrap your work. Keep scratching away at it slowly. Just write it down. Don’t worry about it, don’t think about it, don’t let yourself give up on it, just write it.
