  Don’t bother. There’s probably a way, but even if somebody knew there’s no point in going through the trouble to break the rules. Just wait until you get home. Sorry, it’s not the answer you were looking for, but I think it’ll help you more in the long run.

• So here’s my story… You don’t have to read this, I just wanted to put it out there.
  

  Well this is what happened at school:
  
  Yesterday, I gave him the ‘double thumbs up’ (like he did to me), which made him laugh (at me or the joke?).
  
  Today, somebody’s phone rang in class, which made everyone look to see who it was, and since I sat next to him when he was done looking we made eye contact and he kind of laughed/ smiled.
  
  Later, when we were finishing up a lab, I sat at my seat which happened to be next to where he was doing his lab, and he had a stop watch and started saying ’so this is what you do, you start it and you try to stop it as fast as you can’ (with the stop watch). He tried to start it, but it wouldn’t start, so I said ‘yeah, you’re so good at that’ (too harsh for a joke?) and he said ‘oh be quiet’ (couldn’t tell if he took it the right way or was being a good sport.) He then came back from putting the stopwatch away, and used two of his fingers to point at his eyes then at me and said ‘I’ve got my eye on you’, which I responded ‘I do to’. Then he said, ‘don’t try to be funny’ and I responded saying ‘only if you don’t’ and he laughed. Then he paused, and said ‘I couldn’t hear a word you said, you spoke so quietly.’
  
  Are these friendly interactions? Could they be friendly acts of pity? Or are they sincerely interested actions? Sorry, obviously things aren’t as difficult, but I still manage to make it hard to enjoy somehow.

  I am still in high school, I’m a sophomore. But what do you mean by ‘open minded’ and ‘friendly’? I feel like I know people and people talk to me some, but but I’ve never felt close enough to assuredly call them a ‘friend’, much less a ‘best friend’. What does it take to get to that extra step?

  SingerInPurple, before I saw anything more, I have to thank you for all of the help you’ve given me, it’s really fantastic and it’s helped so much through my thinking process. And everyone else here who answered this and gave me some advice, I greatly appreciate your assistance as well.
  
  SingerInPurple, when you say ‘just tell him’, are you suggesting that I should, or only if I do decide to tell him something? I already sent him a message that concluded everything (’you don’t have to apologize, i should have ended the conversation…’). Should I send another one and mention that I’m nervous but glad we’re in one of the same classes?
  
  Once again thank you everyone. I have a hard time knowing when not to take things seriously and when enough thinking is enough, so this is really helpful.
