• (1 vote) HOW CAN I GET OVER DEPRESSION
  

  I’m going through depression and have done for over three years now. The thing is, I could’ve made a start at trying to make things better for myself a lot sooner than I did, which would’ve made a huge difference to my life. Therefore, I’m glad you’ve came to us now instead of later like I did.
  When I first became depressed, others picked up on it and I was losing closeness to family and friends quickly. I didn’t know what was happening at first. It’s only when I went through some things (that I’ll mention later) when it all came clear. None of them wanted to know me, so I accepted it when I shouldn’t of. From that point on more and more bad things started to happen and I did the same thing, I accepted it and let things carry on. Which lead to me bottling things in and becoming suicidal, which hurt because I wanted to tell someone about but I picked not to, and the pain only got worse.
  Only recently have I decided to try and help myself. At first I spoke to me family, but because of various problems, that soon turned out to be a bad idea, so I stopped. That might be different for you if you have a better relationship with your family than I do.
  Then as I didn’t want to give up, I went to the only friend I had left, but as they didn’t like the change I lost that friend. Again, that could be different with you as your friends might not be like mine was.
  Then going to see my GP, which was a good and bad idea. Good because it was something I’ve not tried and someone else to talk to, but also a bad idea as he’s given me many pills that have not worked, which I’m still taking now. Again that might be different for you, depending on how your body works with the pills.
  As that was not working I got a counselor, depending on where you go and how the counselor is with you depends on how it makes you feel. It’s not doing too much for me, but I’m still going in case in time something happens.
  I don’t open up about my problems on here, as its not me. I prefer to help than to receive help. All I can say is, please don’t be how I was. Please keep taking peoples ideas, speak to professionals about the ideas and keep coming on here. Theres some really nice people on here who would love to help you.

  I’m SO happy for you, but I want you to be really careful when you use to word love. Love is more than a word, its the strongest feeling there is and should only be said if its really there. If it is there, then don’t listen to me, I’m only looking out for you and hope you don’t get hurt.

  Well this is something that’s going to take time to overcome/sort out. I think you should carry on as you are, doing things for yourself and talking to people about it, on here or offline. People are there to help and things will get better the longer you do it for.
