Good morning. Biggest news over here is the Asian Eclispe today. The longest eclispe of the century we are being told lasted 15 minutes. The best one I enjoyed was 97 in Greece.

Good morning Sully. Hows life with you at the mo’? Last time we spoke that move fell through. Anything new at all? I’m stuck in my home town at the moment looking after my folks. Long story, too tragic. summers looking nice here.

My Puyang stay has been extended to a full month and I am probably not going to Chengdu. I was so looking forward to that too! I may just stick with this company for a couple months and then go study at WuDangShen.

I did leave! I went to Beijing and the teacher that hired me had the classes for 3 weeks before I got there. He thought that NO ONE should have to go through 3 hour classes and restructured them. Then they got another new teacher who is a little more fragile then I am and put her in that school. I am in Puyang for 2 weeks teaching until the replacement teacher gets here. Then I go to Chengdu. I will be opening 3 schools there and managing the teachers for 2 months and then moving to repeat the process in another city. Every 2 months I will be in a different place.

I also have not been here for a while. My HD died and I just got it replaced. So, the last 2 months was all on my PDA and that was really to cumbersome to do any long posts or replies/shouts.

Thats it I have got to buy a laptop. My son squirreled his PC to his room. This is the first time I’ve managed to get on line since Saturday. I hate not coming here.

Seems every time I think its in the clear they throw another wrench in the works. I am really done with this game now. I am making a desision that may have some heavy repercussions later but if I am out from under them I don’t care.

What did you think of the suggestions made for your lessons?
Well I got huge blisters on my palms, but the garden does look ready for spring now.

So why not make these lessons a role play. Real life situations.
Cooking a meal with ingredients and instructions.
How to turn on a computor and performing a task.
Going to shops and holding a conversation.

Oral! I plan on letting them write it only if they cant say it. All written comunication becomes my next lessons pronounciation dialog. But the projects can be anything that can easily be done in a class room. I just plan on totally disalowing Chinese for that time.

Do these projects in English have to written or oral?

Its not that they are known to be disruptive. School classes are under an hour for a reason! The student attention span on a single subject actually maxes out at about 45 min. So, with a 3 hour class I need to change the focus at least 4 times. Thats basicaly 4 times the prep work and still very hard to make it not boring for the students. I am going to have one whole hour dedicated to team projects that MUST be done 100% in English. But I need projects! They can take 5 hours to complete. Thats 1 project a week.

I suppose the best thing about working with the same class every day is that you will start to form a relationship with them. Hopefully this will get you respect and positive results.

Talked to my perspecive new boss. Tough gig! Its a uper intensive English program. Going to be tough… I have the job if I want it. And I want it. Getting things in order here so I can leave will take a few weeks. The pay is nagotiable. That is good to here. He knows what I get now and he knows that his project is sirious work and going to drain any teacher he puts there that doesnt have the experience to handle that type of class. What makes it hard is the class is 3 hours long! Every day. Same students. Thats what I will be workking. 15 hours a week. Plus 5 hours office time. On top of that I have to plan 5 three hour lessons a week! Realistically this will start out as a 35 hour per week job and possibly be reducible to 25 hours when I astablish a routien.

Any news? I have figured that you are 8hrs ahead of me. Sure it didn’t take a genius to figure that out but I am easily entertained.hehe.
I wonder what living in a post Olympic city is like. I was in Athens before 2004 and now obviously here so I have seen the industriousness of getting ready for such an event.

Interview is for a teaching position in Biejing. Better then the one I am in now. Its only 16 to 20 hours a week but its salary. Plus it includes all cost of living! So I have NO bills and make 5000 RMB a month plus what I pull in from privet lessons.

I never cook anything with a recipie. But I have taken to keeping track of what I made so when people ask for one I can scrub one up.

Soup lovely..I like making soups, I never follow a recipe though I tend to just reccy the cupboards then attack. hehe. As for my friend I can’t even talk him into attempting a stew at the moment. I will try harder to inspire him.

AAArrgghh moving squid. No!!. I have seen deep fried fish that are still gasping for air being eaten. And snake portions crawling over plates. I am by no means a vegetarian but I really can’t stick any moving animal in my mouth. Not even maggots too warm them when fishing. And if your mind comes up with any double entendre that doesn’t count hehehe.

The worst thing i have ever tried was squid that was very lightly fried in a yummy sauce. The sauce was all that was yummy. And the still moving squid crawling down my throut was a bit much. I hate squid.

Not sure about the adventure part… Is trying BBQed wasps and roasted silk worms adventurous? Wasps are ok, the small skinny silk worms make a good alturnitive to popcorn in movies, and the big fat silk worms are really disgusting. You can get those in Thailand. I hold to the axium “don’t knock it till ya try it!” Honestly I love Thai food… So, I am alturing local dishes to meet my spice requirement. There is a beef fried noodle dish locally that is really good. I would cal that my favorite. In fact I think I will go to my friends restaurant and have some now. It’s called Nu Roa Csiao La Mia. Pronounced noo row tsseeow la mee-ah.

Yòu, wo yòú. Thats “yes, I have”. But it is still very limited and I never leave home without at least 2 of my english/chinese books. I can count well and ask what something is and how much. I can order food. I can ask how you are but I cant understand the answers…

Have you learned much Chinese? I try and make an effort to be able to speak to the locals whenever I go away. Its funny when I get phrases wrong.
The last time I was in Spain I ended up asking for eggs for the walls instead of nails.

Yes, I will be in China for the blossom. I plan to live here for another 5 years.

Some people know that their anon avi’s are known to others. They make a new account just to truely stay anon. Yes there is miss use of it a lot also.

I will return to the US for visits but, I do not see my self living there again. I may visit for as long as a year… I have my mind set on making the world my home. I will probably settle down to one place in about 40 years for retirement but I do not have a clue where that will be. I need to go everywhere and see to make the best choice!
