If PSU = Power Supply Unit, then check to see if the connectors available are the ones you need. Also check to see if there are enough watts to handle your failed computer. If you have enough watts and it will fit, then it should be a good replacement.

It is likely a corrupt driver. I would suggest starting your system in safe mode and:
(1)review your event log (If you have NT/200/XP),
(2)check your device configuration (Hardware manager).
Safe mode starts the system with a minimal set of drivers that typically work with all hardware. - written 3 years, 8 months ago
If system restore is enabled, you may be able to restore your system to a state prior to the start of your problem.
